The Opportunity: A Career-Defining Role
This is an opportunity to lead the charge in defining a completely new category of technology. SailPoint is seeking a visionary Director, Agentic Technologists to build, guide, and support our newly formed, elite team of Principal Agentic Technologists. Reporting to the Sr. Director you will play a critical role in scaling SailPoint’s global business by managing the highly specialized experts who prove the immense value of our Agentic and Non-Human Identity (NHI) Security products to our most strategic customers. You aren’t just leading a traditional sales engineering team; you are orchestrating the technical go-to-market strategy for a revolutionary product line, shaping how the world’s largest enterprises secure the future of AI agents and machine identities.
What You'll Do:
Build & Lead an Elite Team: Hire, coach, and drive a high-performing global team of Principal Agentic Technologists. You will manage individual and team performance, ensuring your technologists have the resources, guidance, and strategic alignment needed to thrive in complex technical engagements.
Shape the Agentic Technical Strategy: Work to continuously evolve the "Agentic Story" and technical sales methodology. You will oversee the development of highly tailored product presentations, 'Art of the Possible' demonstrations, and Proof-of-Value (PoV) frameworks tuned for CISOs, CDOs, and Lead Architects.
Executive Alignment & Deal Support: Partner closely with Regional Sales VPs and Directors on account planning, strategy, and execution. You will act as an executive sponsor on critical, high-stakes opportunities, using your management consulting skills to influence thinking and gain acceptance across multiple customer constituencies.
Bridge the Field and Product Engineering: Provide timely, highly insightful, and strategically synthesized feedback to Product Management, Field Sales, and Marketing. You and your team will act as the "tip of the spear," directly influencing the agentic and NHI product roadmaps based on real-world enterprise deployment challenges.
Drive Continuous Innovation & Enablement: Assess gaps in an incredibly fast-moving technological landscape. You will create and implement enablement programs to ensure your team remains at the cutting edge of AI frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex), major Cloud AI platforms, and emerging NHI security paradigms.
Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Leadership Experience: 7+ years of experience as an engineering leader, with a proven track record of managing senior, principal-level architects, or highly specialized overlay teams.
Foundational Experience: 5+ years of prior experience as an individual contributor in a highly technical pre-sales, architecture, or consulting role. Bachelor of Arts or Science in Computer Science or equivalent degree/experience.
Identity & Innovation Domain Knowledge: A strong understanding of the solutions, market dynamics, and best practices in the Identity Governance (IGA) and IAM market, combined with a strong functional understanding of the AI landscape (Cloud AI, LLMs, Agentic frameworks) and Non-Human Identities (service accounts, workload identity).
Strategic Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex enterprise purchasing motions and design scalable technical sales processes.
Executive Communication: Masterful communication skills, including the ability to seamlessly pivot between discussing deep technical architectures with engineering leaders and translating that technology into business value for C-level executives.

Becoming a successful Director, Agentic Technologists at SailPoint requires rapid mastery of both our innovative technology and our strategic GTM motion.
Within the first month your goals will include:
Complete the core onboarding coursework and familiarize yourself with SailPoint's overarching organizational structure and core platform capabilities.
Immerse yourself in the new Agentic and Non-Human Identity (NHI) product suites, understanding the core value propositions and current technical methodologies.
Meet your team of Principal Agentic Technologists, establish your 1:1 cadence, and assess the current technical sales pipeline for these products.
Build foundational relationships with key stakeholders: Sales Leadership, Product Management, Marketing, and Channel partners.
Shadow critical discovery calls and active PoVs to understand the real-world market dynamics and customer challenges.
Within 3 months at SailPoint you will have:
Established a formalized technical sales methodology and PoV execution standard for the Agentic Technologist team.
Aligned with Product Management to establish a structured, bi-directional feedback loop for feature requests and roadmap influence.
Collaborated with Sales Leadership to map out targeted territory strategies and account planning for top-tier opportunities.
Identified training gaps and initiated specialized enablement for your team to ensure they remain ahead of the curve on rapidly evolving AI technologies.
By the end of your first 12 months at SailPoint you will have:
Built and scaled a world-class, high-performing team of specialists that are consistently driving revenue and pipeline growth for our Agentic and NHI solutions.
Successfully established SailPoint as the undeniable thought leader in securing AI agents and Non-Human Identities, driven by the technical excellence of your team.
Acted as the executive technical sponsor on several closed, multi-million-dollar transformational AI/Identity deals.
Created a culture of continuous innovation, knowledge sharing, and field-readiness within your organization.
Location:
This is a Remote position based in the United States.
We anticipate up to 30% travel, including team management travel, strategic customer engagements, internal leadership summits, and industry events.
Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.
As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-max, USD):
$160,090 - $269,854.20Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employee’s home location.
