Position Summary
The Digital Project Management Office (PMO) team plans and implements key strategic Digital programs and projects to deliver outcomes benefiting UHN and the health system. We apply best practices for managing projects, change, and risk to ensure high quality deliverables, effective coordination of resources, and transparent progress reporting. Members of the PMO work in close partnership with a broad range of stakeholders, bringing the right teams together to streamline the demand, end-to-end delivery, and operational services in order to mobilize change and achieve value. An exciting opportunity is available to showcase your talents as a Project Manager within UHN Digital where you will part of the Project WorkReady team. Project WorkReady is a a key strategic initiative at UHN, replacing legacy HRIS solution in addition bringing cutting edge enterprise wide scheduling solutions at UHN.
Duties
- Apply rigorous project management, change management, and effective communication across the project lifecycle to manage schedules and milestones using appropriate tools, anticipating and troubleshooting issues to minimize the hospital’s exposure to risk
- Manage project documentation following project management best practices
- Deliver progress reports, requirements documentation, test strategies, test plans, and presentations to project stakeholders, sponsors, and executive-level leaders
- Develop, coordinate, and oversee testing activities across all phases including unit, integration, system, user acceptance testing (UAT), regression, and end-to-end (E2E) testing
- Manage the individual build of test cases and the combination of test scripts for E2E testing, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements
- Coordinate test environments across Development, SIT, UAT, and Production, ensuring environment readiness, stability, middleware/platform compatibility, and successful deployment execution
- Collaborate with technical and business teams to validate data flows, system integrations, and interactions between multiple applications and platforms
- Facilitate and support defect lifecycle management activities, including defect tracking, prioritization, root cause analysis, and defect triage calls with developers, testers, vendors, and stakeholders
- Apply quality assurance methodologies and best practices, including Agile testing and Waterfall QA approaches, to ensure solution quality and successful project delivery
- Coordinate deployments, release planning, production cutovers, and rollback strategies to minimize operational disruption and ensure business continuity
- Support production cutover activities and post-implementation stabilization efforts
- Drive business insight and demonstrate benefits of implemented initiatives to the organization by applying sound data analysis, data quality, data reporting, and visualization
- Coach, mentor, and manage project teams while fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across project and testing lifecycles
- Minimum 5 years project management experience or equivalent required
- Undergraduate Degree required in Health Informatics or Administration, Technology, Science, Business, or related field required. Masters degree an asset
- Technical skills to drive integration discussions with the project implementation leads
- Strong organizational skills and ability to interact with various stakeholders
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams
- Strong analytical, prioritization and organization skills, with attention to detail
- Flexibility to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Experience in formal procurement processes, contract negotiations, and vendor management preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent required
- Familiarity with healthcare information systems, interfaces, HL7, ITIL, and/or enterprise architecture an asset
- Experience with referral workflows/systems and provincial projects an asset
- Other certification (Lean/Six-Sigma Black Belt, ITIL, IIBA, Change Management) an asset
