At Sectigo, we align around our mission and pride ourselves in helping thousands of customers sleep better at night.
Sectigo is the most innovative provider of certificate lifecycle management (CLM), delivering comprehensive solutions that secure human and machine identities for the world’s largest brands. Sectigo’s automated, cloud-native CLM platform issues and manages digital certificates across all certificate authorities (CAs) to simplify and improve security protocols within the enterprise. Sectigo is one of the largest, longest-standing, and most reputable CAs with more than 700,000 customers and two decades of delivering unparalleled digital trust.
“When people think Online trust management, they think Sectigo because we offer our customers unparalleled peace of mind.”
How we show up with each other and our customers every day is just as important, and we win as #OneSectigo by living out our core values - Support, Excellence, Communication, Teamwork, Integrity, Growth and Openness. We are committed to investing in our diverse teams where everyone understands their role and how they support our strategic goals, we drive operational excellence through scale and efficiency, and we strive to delight our customers and become the market leader in our industry. If you aspire to join a driven team that holds each other accountable to meeting our lofty goals and you’d like to be part of our growth story in delivering a market leading user experience, we’d like to talk to you.
We are building next‑generation trust infrastructure—high‑performance systems that power certificate lifecycle and emerging industry trust models.
We are looking for Senior to Principal level DevOps Engineers who focus on turning complex distributed systems into production‑grade services: defining how they are deployed, operated, scaled, and recovered in real-world environments. These systems require high correctness, resilience, and operational discipline from day one.
You will work closely with engineering and architecture to ensure that production readiness is not an afterthought, but a core design input. This includes collaboration across the broader ecosystem and engagement with upstream components to help shape how modern trust infrastructure is actually operated in production.
This is a full-time position, working in a hybrid model, and reporting to our Ottawa office at least 3-4 days a week. The target compensation package for this role is between CAD 100,000 and CAD 150,000, subject to internal equity and years of experience. We may make further adjustments through an approval process if the targeted compensation range needs to be modified based on business needs and market trends.
Who You Are
- You think beyond deployment—you think in terms of operability, failure, and recovery
- You are disciplined about production reality, not just engineering intent
- You enjoy working at the intersection of engineering and operations, shaping systems early
- You can collaborate across teams and influence how systems are designed, not just run
Here are the core functions, responsibilities, and expectations for this role:
Define and deliver production readiness
- Define what “production‑ready” means for trust infrastructure systems (availability, resilience, SLOs, failure recovery)
- Build and enforce observability standards (metrics, logging, tracing, alerting) aligned to real operational needs
- Establish operational guardrails that prevent demo-to-production drift
Build deployment and operational systems
- Design and implement deployment pipelines, rollout strategies, and rollback mechanisms
- Build Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) for repeatable, reliable system deployment
- Ensure systems are portable and deployable beyond single environments or cloud-native assumptions
Validate real-world behavior
- Design and execute load, stress, and failure testing to validate system behavior under real conditions
- Implement and test multi-region, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies
- Continuously validate capacity, scaling limits, and degradation patterns
Collaborate across engineering and ecosystem boundaries
- Work closely with backend and architecture teams to integrate operational concerns into system design from day one
- Collaborate with ecosystem partners and upstream components to align on production operability requirements
- Ensure external dependencies and upstream components meet real-world operational constraints
Additional tasks associated with this position may be assigned in response to company initiatives and business needs.
QualificationsEducation:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field is strongly recommended.
Experience:
- Strong experience (Senior / Staff / Principal level) in DevOps, SRE, or production infrastructure engineering is required.
- Experience operating distributed systems at scale, including high availability and resilience design is required.
- Deep understanding of observability, monitoring, alerting, and incident response is required.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release systems is required.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, similar tools) is required.
- Solid understanding of performance, scaling, and system reliability principles is required.
- Ability to work closely with engineering teams to influence system design—not just operate systems after the fact is required.
- Experience working with security-critical or trust infrastructure systems is strongly preferred.
- Experience collaborating in open-source or cross-organization environments is strongly preferred.
- Exposure to PKI, certificate lifecycle systems, or high-correctness platforms is strongly preferred.
- Experience operating systems with strict availability and correctness requirements is strongly preferred.
Ideal Candidate Profiles, Talents, and Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to lead through influence rather than authority.
- Clear communication skills and strong technical judgment.
- Experience scaling multi‑tenant SaaS platforms.
- Database and storage performance expertise.
- Multi‑region or globally distributed system experience.
- Background working closely with SRE or platform teams.
