What it’s like to be a Northbridge Database Engineer

The Database Engineer will act as the main point of contact and provide leadership for database administration across Northbridge database environments. The Database Engineer leads and provides technical guidance to less experienced Database Engineers in the team for all existing & upcoming database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, Snowflake, DB2, Progress, PostgreSQL, MySQL on both on premise and Azure cloud environment with a significant focus on continuous improvement and technology strategy.

The Database Engineer researches new data management technologies, ensuring proactive monitoring is in place, providing improvement recommendations based on workloads, and providing technical guidance for critical troubleshooting as required.

If you are great at:

• Interface with business systems analysts, solution designers, data architects, and other business stakeholders to understand the business requirements.
• Design, develop, and provide DR and HA solutions using Microsoft as well as third party solutions.
• Assist with daily operations and functionality of Database solutions and applications.
• Provide competent technical leadership to a DBA team ensuring a high-level of reliability and availability for database management systems.
• Maintain proper documentations for the team to follow.

If you have:

• Post-Secondary Education (Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree is preferred) or equivalent on the job experience.
• 5+ years’ experience in database design administration and data modelling with strong focus in all versions of SQL Server; SSIS/SSAS/SS+RS/MDS technologies, Azure MI, Progress and PostgreSQL on both on premise and Azure cloud environments.
• 5+ years’ experience in Windows operating systems and UNIX.
• 5+ years’ experience of scripting in Windows or PowerShell and UNIX shell.
• 5+ years’ experience in performance tuning.

We’re committed to pay transparency and fairness. The annualized base salary range for this role is $98,000 - $147,000, which reflects the expected base pay, not the total compensation package, if applicable. The actual base salary may vary depending on your experience, skills, and alignment with the position. We’re also open to candidates at different levels, so if this range doesn’t quite match your expectations, don’t let that hold you back — we’d still love to hear from you.
