Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting and maintaining production data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.

  • Maintaining technical documentation, operational procedures and support processes.
  • Participating in incident management, root cause analysis and problem resolution activities.
  • Supporting cloud-based data platform initiatives and future-state architecture improvements.

What you'll bring

We're interested in hearing from Data Engineers who are technically strong, curious and enjoy solving complex data problems.

Ideally you'll have:

  • Experience in a Data Engineering, Data Warehouse or Analytics Engineering role.
  • Strong SQL development skills.
  • Experience building and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Databricks or similar technologies.
  • Experience working with data integration, transformation and orchestration tools.
  • Knowledge of data modelling, data governance and data quality principles.
  • Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD and release management practices.
  • Experience supporting production environments and resolving operational issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach and desire to continually improve processes and platforms.

Bonus points if you have

  • Experience within banking, financial services or a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of Azure cloud services.
  • Experience with Python, Spark or data automation frameworks.
  • Exposure to Power BI or enterprise reporting environments.
  • Experience working with large-scale customer and transactional data sets.

Why Heartland?

We offer:

  • A collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Exposure to modern cloud data technologies.
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities.
  • A collaborative culture that values diversity, inclusion and continuous improvement.
  • The opportunity to make a real impact in a growing trans-Tasman financial services organisation.
