Job Description

You must reside in the GTA area to be considered for this role. This is a hybrid role & candidates are required to be on-site for 3 days a week at minimum.*

GENERAL FUNCTION

The primary function of the Data Architect is to provide business, data, application and technology consulting and leadership for the Enterprise IT portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Architecture and design level responsibility for the data architecture for global information technology projects at Momentum Financial.
  • Architects, designs and implements data models, meta-data models, process flows, process models, as well as the data services.
  • Captures the requirements for these services and identifies the techniques and technologies that should be applied at the data level as well defining the system and operational requirements that the computing infrastructure must support.
  • Identifies the types, distribution, and organization of data components that will deliver the defined business functionality.
  • Works with and provides leadership and technical guidance to other architects and database administrators.
  • Defines data management principles and policies setting the direction for how data is managed across the enterprise, including data quality, organization, ownership and systems of record.
  • Member of the core architecture team and takes technical guidance and direction from the Enterprise Architecture Manager.
  • Leads the development and maintenance of the Enterprise baseline data model, a model that defines data entities relevant to the entire enterprise.
  • Works closely with Infrastructure, Business and Application Architects and DBAs to determine the most appropriate data partitioning to achieve maximum performance and scalability ensuring that all data models and components are derived from and consistent with the business object model (BOM), application architecture and underlying technical architecture.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in Data/Database technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in Data/Database technologies, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting
  • OR equivalent experience.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • 8+ years’ experience in data modeling, development, implementation and support of transactional databases and data warehouses for global, large scale systems.
  • 3+ years of business unit experience, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving.
  • Experience with relational database platforms including Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL.
  • Experience with meta-data repository technologies.
  • Advanced expertise in stored procedure programming, data modeling, replication, performance
  • monitoring and optimization, and database administration.
  • Experience in data warehousing, ETL and distributed environments.
  • Experience with data modeling for Object Oriented systems.
  • Microsoft Desktop Productivity Tools, Visio, and System Modeling Tools.
  • Experience with Visual Studio.
  • Experience with Business Process Management, workflow, or process modeling.
  • Experience with data modeling concepts and tools such as ERWin.
  • Strong Microsoft SQL Server, OLAP, DTS skills.
  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Ability to cross train, mentor and coach others.
  • Application development experience with Microsoft .NET technologies a plus.
