Who we need

Reporting to the Director, Development Advisory, we are hiring an Electrical Cost Consultant to join our Toronto-based team. As our new Cost Consultant, you will support the preparation of electrical estimates, quantity take-offs, budgeting, cost planning, and project monitoring activities across commercial, institutional, residential, and infrastructure projects. You will collaborate closely with senior team members, contractors, consultants, and clients while continuing to build your technical expertise and career within a national consulting environment.

This is a remote role with the expectation that you are located near one of our Canadian offices and can attend in person for collaboration as needed.

What’s in it for you

Project exposure and technical breadth. You will work on a diverse portfolio of projects across commercial, institutional, residential, and transit infrastructure sectors throughout Canada. From large-scale transit initiatives to complex development projects, you will gain exposure to a wide range of project types, clients, and technical challenges that will continue to expand your expertise beyond a single specialization.

Career growth and mentorship. You will work closely with experienced leaders and senior consultants who are invested in mentorship, technical development, and knowledge sharing. We believe progression should be based on capability, accountability, and performance, creating the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and continue advancing your career as your skills grow.

Flexibility and long-term opportunity. You will join a collaborative team that values trust, transparency, and professional growth within a flexible hybrid work environment. Along with unlimited vacation, professional membership support, and continuing education assistance, you will have the opportunity to build a long-term career with exposure to meaningful projects, evolving responsibilities, and continued professional development.

As our new Electrical Cost Consultant, you will:

  • Support cost planning and estimating activities. You will prepare detailed electrical quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and estimate structures across a range of commercial, institutional, residential, and infrastructure projects. Working from drawings, specifications, and project documentation, you will contribute to accurate and timely project costing throughout various stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate across projects and stakeholders. You will work closely with senior consultants, project teams, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients to support budgeting, forecasting, benchmarking, and cost monitoring activities. You will contribute to discussions related to scope, pricing, change orders, and project requirements while helping ensure estimates and deliverables are completed with accuracy and consistency.
  • Build technical expertise and consulting capability. You will continue developing your knowledge of electrical systems, construction costing, and consulting practices through mentorship, hands-on project exposure, and collaboration with experienced team members. As your experience grows, you will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility, contribute to more complex projects, and expand your role within the team.

You bring:

  • The education. You have a diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. Equivalent practical experience within electrical estimating or construction cost management will also be considered.
  • The electrical estimating experience. You have experience in electrical estimating, construction cost management, or cost consulting within the construction, engineering, or development industry. You understand how to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation and are comfortable supporting projects through various stages of the estimating and cost planning process.
  • The technical foundation. You have experience preparing quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates for electrical systems, including core power and distribution systems such as switchgear, transformers, generators, and panels. Exposure to lighting, fire alarm, security, communications, or other low-voltage systems is considered an asset.
  • The analytical and organizational skills. You are detail-oriented and comfortable working with pricing, quantities, technical documentation, and project data. You can manage multiple priorities, maintain accuracy under deadlines, and approach problems with a logical and solutions-focused mindset.
  • The collaboration and communication skills. You can work effectively with senior consultants, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients in a professional and team-oriented environment. You ask thoughtful questions, communicate clearly, and contribute positively to discussions related to project scope, pricing, and deliverables.
  • The accountability and work ethic. You are dependable, proactive, and responsive in how you approach your work. You can manage your responsibilities independently within a flexible hybrid environment while maintaining transparency, meeting deadlines, and contributing to a collaborative team culture built on trust and integrity.
