Content & Storytelling Specialist

Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Communications, the Content & Storytelling Specialist is responsible for capturing and sharing the stories that showcase the people, projects, and culture that make our organization unique. Through authentic storytelling and behind-the-scenes access to our projects and people, this role will strengthen our employer brand, support recruitment efforts, and increase awareness of our work, capabilities, and culture.
The Content Specialist regularly travels to project sites across Ontario to create visual and written content, conduct interviews, document project milestones, and develop engaging stories for internal and external audiences. Working closely with operations leaders, project teams, Talent Acquisition, and Communications, they will identify opportunities to showcase the impact of our people and the complexity of the work we deliver every day.
Using stories gathered from the field, the Content Specialist will develop employee communications, newsletters, SharePoint content, and other communications that drive engagement, celebrate successes, and strengthen connections across the organization. The ideal candidate is a curious, self-starting storyteller and skilled content creator who thrives in a dynamic environment, builds strong relationships, uncovers authentic stories, and creates impactful visual and written content that resonates with employees, prospective candidates, clients, and industry audiences.What You Will Be Working On
  • Travel to project sites, offices, and events to capture authentic stories, project progress, and employee experiences.  

  • Plan, shoot, and edit high-quality video and photo content for internal and external audiences that align with our brand identity and voice 

  • Conduct interviews with employees, leaders, clients, and project teams to develop compelling narratives.  

  • Work with operational and corporate teams to identify and communicate key business updates and success stories. 

  • Build relationships with project teams, operations leaders, recruitment teams, and business stakeholders.  

  • Collaborate with internal teams (design, business development, subject matter experts) to gather ideas and develop high-quality content that supports key initiatives and campaigns.  

  • Proactively identify stories worth telling across the organization.  

  • Serve as a trusted communications partner by helping teams share their successes and achievements.  

  • Balance multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Transform complex project information into engaging visual stories  

  • Develop storyboards, scripts, shot lists, and creative concepts for content campaigns. 

  • Support the development and distribution of internal communications content. 

  • Measure content performance and provide recommendations to improve engagement and impact. 

  • Stay informed on social media trends, algorithm updates, and best practices; proactively suggest new ideas, formats, and channels to keep our content fresh and competitive.  

  • Provide overall support to Marketing & Communications team by designing promotional materials such as PowerPoints, infographics, ads, and more.  

  • Maintain brand consistency across all content, ensuring visuals, tone, and messaging reflect our values and resonate with our audience.  

  • Other duties and responsibilities as required

What We Are Looking For
  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, Broadcasting, or a related field 

  • 3-5+ years of experience in content creation, video production, storytelling, communications, or digital marketing.  

  • Proven experience shooting and editing professional video content.  

  • Strong photography, videography, and content editing skills.  

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple deadlines 

  • Experience conducting interviews and creating human-centered stories.  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.  

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to project sites. 

  • Proficiency in using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects), Davinci Resolve, and/or Canva 

  • Creative mindset, attention to detail, and passion for staying ahead of digital trends 

  • Experience working in construction, industrial, infrastructure, engineering, or related industries is considered an asset.  

  • Digital marketing background is considered an asset.
