About Opendoor

Our mission is to tilt the world in favor of homeowners. Real estate has always been intimidating, the jargon, the friction, the fear. We think the best content in this category can fix that. We're building the team to do it.

The Role

Opendoor is looking for an exceptional writer and storyteller to to be the voice of Opendoor on the web. Not good. Exceptional. The kind of person who can take something as mundane as "how does escrow work" and make a homeowner feel genuinely less afraid and more in control of the decision. That's the mission in practice: tilting the world in favor of homeowners means giving them the clarity to act, not just the reassurance to relax..

You'll set that voice everywhere a homeowner encounters us, our blog and guides, partner case studies, landing pages, the UX copy inside the product, social captions, and make sure it all sounds like one person wrote it. You'll partner with Performance Marketing, PMM, Product, and Design so that voice shows up consistently, not just in the content you write yourself but in the strings, comparisons, and captions other teams ship.

What makes this role different: you don't just write, you also scale. You treat AI as a creative co-pilot and production multiplier, building systems and workflows that let you operate like a team of ten. You sit in Growth, you think like a marketer, and you ship like a founder.

What you’ll do

  • Own Opendoor's Voice: Be the single point of accountability for how Opendoor sounds across every surface, blog and guides, partner case studies, landing pages, social captions, and the UX copy inside the product itself. Partner with PMM and Design so a homeowner reading a blog post, a case study, and a confirmation screen recognizes the same voice.
  • Develop a Full-Funnel Content Strategy: Map the entire customer journey and create targeted content for each stage, from educational blog posts and guides to compelling case studies, landing pages, and product comparisons that drive action.
  • Build and Scale our SEO Content Engine: Partner with our SEO lead to develop a content-driven SEO strategy end to end: conducting keyword and audience research to build a roadmap that captures high-intent traffic without losing the voice that makes people trust us.
  • Build Scalable Content Systems: Use AI to develop reusable templates, prompt kits, and production workflows that let you punch far above your weight, running experiments, producing variants, and maintaining quality at a pace that would require a team otherwise.
  • Partner Across the Growth Org: Collaborate closely with Performance Marketing, Lifecycle, Product, PMM, and Design teams so content is embedded in every motion, not bolted on after.

What you have

  • An actual portfolio. We want to see writing that's good enough to share,  pieces with a distinct voice that rank, convert, and don't sound like they were templated. Bring samples that show range: long-form, a landing page, a caption, whatever proves you can write in more than one register.
  • 5+ years in a content role inside a data-driven Growth team, ideally at a high-growth tech company.
  • AI-native working style. You're not "familiar with AI tools", you've rebuilt how you work around them. You've written your own prompt libraries. You batch-produce variants. You know where AI makes you 10x faster and where it makes your work worse.
  • An experimental mindset. You think in hypotheses, ship scrappy v1s, and iterate fast based on signal.
  • Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals, keyword research, content architecture, and comfort in Ahrefs, SEMrush, or equivalent. It's one tool in the kit here, not the whole job.

Submit portfolio or 1-2 content pieces that showcase your work.
