Change Management and Organizational Design Manager

 

Summary 

The position leads the development and execution of change management strategies and plans, project management activities, and drives the implementation of organizational design changes to support workforce transitions. This role involves partnering with business leaders, client services / HR business partners, Organizational Effectiveness consultants, and cross-functional teams to deliver change efforts. The Change Management and Organizational Design Manager ensures accountability, mitigates risks and monitors outcomes to measure the success of change initiatives. 

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Manager, Talent Consulting Services within Org & Talent. The position is hybrid (2 days/week), from our downtown Toronto office. 

Responsibilities 

Change Management 

  • Lead the development and execution of project-related change management initiatives and efforts in partnership with other HR colleagues and business leaders as needed. 

  • Collaborate in a cross-functional environment to define change objectives, leadership alignment, success metrics and stakeholder engagement plans. 

  • Conduct change impact assessments, stakeholder and persona analysis, and readiness evaluation to inform change efforts. 

  • Design and implement creative and tailored communications and key messaging based on persona approach to get buy-in and engagement. 

  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement activities and workshops to enhance awareness and enable change management capabilities. 

  • Collaborate with the learning team and other stakeholders to develop and implement training initiatives to drive awareness, understanding and adoption of changes. 

  • Define, measure and monitor change adoption metrics, assess risks, and recommend interventions to address resistance or gaps. 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor on best practices in change management, embedding a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement. 

Organizational Design

  • Develop and implement organizational design strategies that align with business goals to optimize target operating models, role definitions, governance structures, processes and capabilities. 

  • Lead the implementation of organizational design changes, ensuring alignment with approved model and approach. 

  • Develop and manage detailed workforce transition plans, including timelines, dependencies and contingency strategies. 

  • Act as the primary liaison between the Organizational Effectiveness team and business leaders, ensuring continuity and clarity in execution. 

  • Facilitate team effectiveness sessions and realignment discussions to align OD implementation with workforce capabilities and business objectives. 

  • Oversee tracking mechanisms to monitor the effectiveness of the workforce transition and structural changes. 

  • Partner with Client Services / HRBP business leaders and other stakeholders to lead the communications and engagement initiatives, supporting morale during the transition period. 

  • Document lessons learned and continuous improvements for future organizational design implementations. 

Project Management 

  • Lead the project management of change and OD implementation activities, ensuring timely delivery within scope. 

  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, risk mitigation strategies and resource allocation if needed. 

  • Oversee cross-functional teams and project-specific change management workstreams to ensure alignment on project deliverables and milestones. 

  • Proactively identify risks and issues, developing solutions to mitigate potential impacts on project outcomes. 

  • Maintain project status reports and provide regular updates to key stakeholders, delivering insights into progress, challenges and outcomes. 

  • Establish a clear governance framework to ensure accountability and transparency in project execution. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelors degree in business administration, Human Resources, or related field. 

  • 5+ years of experience in Human Capital consulting, including Change Management, Organizational Design, Human Resources, and Project Management, focusing on designing and delivering change management and organizational design solutions. 

  • Proven track record of leading end-to-end change management efforts for large-scale organizational initiatives.  

  • Expertise in organizational design strategies, principles, framework, approaches and solutions to support business objectives and workforce planning. 

  • Demonstrated experience in implementing workforce transitions, role realignment communications, and team effectiveness strategies.  

  • Strong project management experience with expertise in managing complex and cross-functional projects. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Certification in Change Management or Organizational Design.  

  • Certification in project management. 

Skills and Competencies  

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.  

  • Global collaboration and communication experience particularly within a matrixed organization. 

  • Expertise in developing targeted communications materials including positioning, framing of complex concepts in simple ways and decision-making facilitation. 

  • Solid understanding of workforce transitions, organizational structures and process analysis. 

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. 

  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships, working with all levels and influencing stakeholders across an organization. 

  • Ability to synthesize complex information, collect and interpret data, identify trends and recommend actionable solutions. 

  • Ability to problem solve and manage conflict.
