The Opportunity

Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management is seeking a Business Development Associate to support our advisor recruiting efforts. In this role, the ideal candidate will identify, contact, and qualify Investment Advisors and advisor teams who may be a fit to join the firm. Working closely with the business development team and regional leadership, you will manage outreach campaigns, maintain a prospect database, and help move candidates through the recruiting process. This role suits someone early in their business development or recruitment career who is interested in the wealth management industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform outgoing calls (cold and warm) aimed at identifying and qualifying prospective Investment Advisors and advisor teams;
  • Prepare email and general mail outs to advisor prospects, including tracked email marketing campaigns, to generate interest and support recruiting initiatives;
  • Organize and maintain a database (CRM) of advisor prospects, ensuring records, activity, and pipeline status are accurate and up to date;
  • Research advisors, teams, and books of business to support market mapping and targeted outreach;
  • Schedule and coordinate introductory meetings between qualified prospects and the recruiting and branch management teams;
  • Track outreach activity and report on pipeline metrics and campaign results;
  • Handle prospect information with a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality;
  • Provide general administrative and event support to the business development and recruiting team as needed.

The Candidate

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in telemarketing, sales, business development, recruiting, or a related client-facing role;
  • Understanding of the financial industry, specific to investment management, wealth management, and the advisory business;
  • Personable and professional, with excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills;
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a pipeline;
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with a CRM is an asset;
  • Demonstrated interest in investment products, retail wealth management, and the advisor recruiting process.

Professional Qualifications and Education:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in business, finance, commerce, or a related field;
  • Completion of (or willingness to complete) the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) is considered an asset;
  • Any additional financial services designations or coursework demonstrating industry knowledge are viewed favourably.

Total Rewards

The expected base salary for this role is $55,000 - $65,000 and will be based on the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications. In addition to base salary, Canaccord Genuity offers a competitive total rewards package, which may include:
