The Investment Solutions Group (ISG) is responsible for supporting the investment management and operations at HOOPP and is currently looking for an experienced Business Consultant. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Trading Integrations, the Business Consultant will provide project team leadership, consulting, and operations support for the following key areas at HOOPP:
Core Investment Technologies (vendor integrations, system integrations both data and workflows)
Partnership and support for other key portfolios in ISG
Specific vendor platform and integration technology ownership and support for specific clients
Investment management Front Office / Trading Desks
Investment Finance – Trading Operations
Investment Finance – Data Quality/Reporting
Audit and Risk
This role is fundamental to the operations and effectiveness of our investment strategies, our ability to trade new products and ability of our business partners to be able to effectively ensure that trades are processed correctly in our core investment. The role will also lead small to large scale projects and mentor candidates within a team.
What will you do:
Support the development and execution of the annual IT strategy in partnership with the Trading Integrations Senior Manager/ Product Owner.
Lead project teams in delivering solutions, including vendor alignment, integration roadmaps, proof-of-concept evaluations, and cost-benefit analysis.
Define scope, prioritize backlog items, and create requirements and solution designs while incorporating user and technical feedback.
Maintain awareness of the capital markets vendor landscape, evaluate roadmaps, and identify opportunities to align with strategic goals.
Drive change by recommending and adopting best practices, and providing analytical, operational, and change management support.
Own analysis and delivery of solutions and integrations for investment portfolios, ensuring quality and timely execution.
Foster collaboration across IT teams to identify synergies and facilitate Agile ceremonies (e.g., daily standups, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives).
Build strong relationships with business partners, vendors, and internal teams (e.g., business analysts, developers, architects, etc.) to achieve high-value solutions and decisions.
Participate in all phases of the solution delivery lifecycle, from planning and prototyping to testing, deployment, and risk management.
What you bring
Designed and delivered solutions and integrations enabling Investment Management and Traders to make informed investment and risk management decisions.
Deep understanding of Front, Middle, and Back Office workflows within investment firms, with ability to advise on solution design and prioritization.
Proven leadership in managing strategic, multi-million-dollar projects and delivering complex features with cost-benefit focus and scope control.
Extensive vendor management experience, including selection processes, contract negotiations, governance, implementations, and upgrades.
Hands-on expertise across the full solution lifecycle (i.e., visioning, analysis, design, sizing, implementation, QA, production deployment, and support) within Agile frameworks.
Strong product ownership mindset, emphasizing lean delivery, Minimum Viable Products, and iterative releases to maximize value.
Skilled facilitator and visual communicator, adept at uncovering business needs, aligning stakeholders, and producing clear requirements through whiteboarding and documentation.
Builds trust and collaboration across diverse roles and teams; provides constructive feedback, resolves conflicts, and influences improvements to team norms and processes.
Highly analytical and adaptable, able to make decisions in ambiguity, overcome obstacles, and maintain momentum with a positive, solution-oriented approach.
Combines strategic thinking with tactical execution by breaking features into small deliverables, mitigating risks early, and ensuring timely, value-driven outcomes.
Degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, related field and/or relevant experience
CFA, CSA, FRM or other financial designation.
7+ years of progressive experience within Capital Markets and solid understanding of products and technologies used in capital markets.
Strong investment product knowledge (including over the counter vanilla and exotic derivatives) and investment strategies (i.e., Long short, hedging, arbitrage) knowledge.
Proficient in Python and SQL for data analysis, automation, and integration tasks, including developing scripts and workflows to streamline processes.
