What is it like to be a Commercial Insurance Specialist at Federated Insurance?

At Federated Insurance, our Commercial Insurance Sales Specialists are trusted advisors to businesses across Ottawa. You’ll be the face of our brand - building strong relationships, understanding client needs, and delivering tailored insurance solutions that protect what matters most.

This is a field-based sales role with remote flexibility, but you’ll be out in the community often - meeting clients face-to-face, learning about their businesses, and helping them navigate their insurance options with confidence.

If you are interested in Commercial Insurance, Federated Insurance will provide full sales training from industry leaders, internal and external educational courses, and the support to obtain your insurance license.

You’re great at: 

  • Building strong, trust-based relationships with commercial clients

  • Understanding business needs and tailoring insurance solutions that fit

  • Taking initiative—you're proactive, persistent, and results-driven

  • Crushing your sales goals and celebrating your wins

  • Communicating with clarity, confidence, and empathy

  • Navigating client meetings and travel across the Ottawa area with ease

  • Learning and growing—you’re excited to deepen your insurance knowledge and earn your license with our support

You have:

  • Proven success in front-line sales, ideally in a B2B or consultative environment

  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (travel is essential)

  • Bilingual in English and French is a strong asset

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

  • A passion for helping others and a drive to exceed expectations

  • Willingness to obtain your provincial insurance license within 6 months (we’ll support you every step of the way)
