Automation Project Specialist - Machine Build, PLC & Robotics

As our next Automation Project Specialist (Machine Build, Robotics/PLC Service), you’ll be at the forefront of programming, commissioning, and supporting advanced automation systems. What You’ll Be Doing:
• Program, debug, and commission PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and motion systems
• Troubleshoot and optimize robotic cells, including vision and force monitoring systems
• Support design, build, and startup of automation equipment and assembly lines
• Modify existing production equipment and develop new automation solutions
• Configure industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, etc.)
• Develop or modify LabVIEW-based programs for automation systems
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams during design and implementation
• Support equipment commissioning at customer sites and provide technical support
• Prepare technical documentation including manuals, setup procedures, and schematics
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance
What We’re Looking For:
• Technical diploma or degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in an automation or controls environment
• Expert knowledge of PLC programming (Omron NJ, Allen Bradley)
• Experience with robot programming (Fanuc, Yaskawa, KUKA)
• Strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Experience with industrial controls, automation systems, and troubleshooting
• Must be able to train the first two months at our Ancaster facility with the eventual move to Mississauga.
Bonus Points If You Have:
• Experience with LabVIEW programming and applications
• Knowledge of SQL databases and related systems
• Experience with electrical design tools (e.g., EPLAN)
• Experience in automotive manufacturing and IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 environments
