Job description

Mid-level team member who owns execution workstreams. The Associate plays a key role in the execution, monitoring, and management of private equity investments. Associates are responsible for leading aspects of deal execution, supporting portfolio company performance, and contributing to team development.


Key responsibilities

1. Deal execution and investment analysis

  • Lead financial analysis and modeling of investment opportunities.
  • Conduct and oversee due diligence processes (financial, legal, operational).
  • Structure deals and develop investment theses.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external advisors.
  • Prepare and present investment memoranda and IC decks.
  • Evaluate deals and contribute to investment strategy.
  • Take part in early-stage sourcing and relationship building.


2. Portfolio management

  • Work with management teams on strategic business initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators and financial results.
  • Identify and assess potential exit strategies.
  • Support board meeting preparation and investor updates.
  • Maintain strong relationships with portfolio company stakeholders.


3. Internal contribution and culture

  • Actively contribute to team discussions and firm strategy.
  • Share knowledge and support the development of junior colleagues.
  • Help lead recruiting initiatives and represent Novacap externally.


Required skills & profile

  • 4-6 years of experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, Big 4 Audit/Transaction Services or other relevant fast-paced and analytically driven investment organization.
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, accounting or other related business field MBA, CFA, CPA, or CBV is an asset).
  • Advanced financial modeling, analytical, and valuation expertise.
  • Experience managing complex projects and multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
