WHO WE NEED
We are seeking an Assistant Tourism & Membership Intern to support ROM’s Tourism & Membership team for Summer 2026. This full-time, grant-funded contract position, supported through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program, provides an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in tourism outreach, membership engagement, visitor services, and event coordination within one of Canada’s leading cultural institutions.
In this role, you will support initiatives that help strengthen visitor engagement, promote ROM’s programs and experiences, and assist with membership-related activities and community outreach efforts. Working closely with the Tourism & Membership team, you will contribute to public-facing initiatives that support audience growth, visitor engagement, and memorable museum experiences.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Support tourism outreach initiatives, including researching audiences, organizing promotional materials, and assisting with visitor engagement activities.
  • Assist with festivals, community events, outreach activations, and public-facing promotional initiatives.
  • Respond to general customer service and membership inquiries via email, phone, or in-person interactions.
  • Support membership renewal campaigns, membership communications, and audience engagement initiatives.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of membership events and visitor engagement activities.
  • Help prepare marketing and communication materials, including email drafts, promotional content, and organizational resources.
  • Support administrative and organizational tasks, including maintaining records, organizing materials, and updating spreadsheets or tracking documents.
  • Collaborate with Tourism & Membership team members to support visitor engagement and audience development initiatives.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed post-secondary studies in Tourism, Marketing, Communications, Arts Administration, Hospitality, Business, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with enthusiasm for public engagement and visitor experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Interest in tourism, arts and culture, museums, membership engagement, events, or visitor services.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Previous customer service, retail, hospitality, events, volunteer, or administrative experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
  • Friendly, professional, and adaptable with strong problem-solving skills.

SALARY & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • START DATE: June 2026
  • DURATION: 12-14 weeks
  • OPEN DATE: May 22, 2026
  • CLOSE DATE: June 5, 2026
  • STATUS: Full-time Contract
  • EMPLOYEE GROUP: Non-Union
  • EXPECTED COMPENSATION: $17.60 per hour
  • SCHEDULE: 35 hours weekly
  • PROBATIONARY PERIOD: The internship period will serve as the evaluation period for this role.
  • LOCATION (onsite): Toronto, ON
This position is funded through the Ontario Summer Employment Opportunities (SEO) Program. Applicants must meet the program’s eligibility requirements, including being legally entitled to work in Canada and eligible to participate in the SEO program at the time of hire.

  2. First interview: A 1-hour in-person or virtual interview with the Hiring Manager and a member of the HR team. This in-depth interview will focus on your skills and how they align with the team's and ROM's needs.
