The Company

Torn Banner Studios is a Toronto, Canada-based independent game development studio founded in 2010. We first made our mark with Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, a multi-million copy selling title that redefined melee combat in gaming. Since then, we’ve continued to grow and innovate, releasing Chivalry 2 and, most recently, No More Room in Hell 2. Today, our team of around 100 developers is dedicated to creating unique, challenging, and fun gaming experiences.

The Role

We are seeking an Art Outsourcing Manager to oversee our external art production pipeline, identify outsourcing opportunities, evaluate deliverable quality, remove bottlenecks, and establish clear timelines for external work.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Production, Art, Design and Leadership teams to understand the game’s creative vision and communicate it effectively to external partners. You will manage vendor relationships and ensure all outsourced assets meet quality standards, align with the project’s artistic direction, and are delivered on schedule.

Note: We offer flexible work arrangements, including remote, in-office, and hybrid options, based on the successful candidate's preference. Candidates must currently reside in Ontario or be willing to relocate to Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Manage external art vendors and outsourcing partners, ensuring timely delivery, consistent quality, and alignment with the project’s artistic vision and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with internal Art, Production, Design, and Leadership teams to understand project needs, priorities, and creative goals, while maintaining strong communication and productive relationships with external partners.
  • Identify outsourcing opportunities and conduct market research to source, evaluate, and onboard vendors that best fit the project’s artistic style, budget, and production needs.
  • Review outsourced assets and provide clear, actionable feedback to ensure deliverables meet quality standards, technical specifications, and pipeline requirements.
  • Establish and maintain efficient outsourcing workflows, documentation, and review processes to optimize production efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate schedules and asset deliveries with Production teams to ensure outsourced content is delivered on time and supports milestone goals.
  • Track vendor performance, budgets, risks, and dependencies, proactively identifying and resolving production bottlenecks or quality concerns.
  • Maintain asset tracking systems, documentation, and communication channels to ensure visibility, accountability, and smooth collaboration across teams.

Requirements

  • Great communication skills and stakeholder management ability
  • Well-developed artistic judgment and a strong alignment with the intended creative vision
  • 5+ years of experience in game art production, outsourcing management, or project coordination within the video game industry
  • Experience creating schedules, tracking milestones, and managing risks, dependencies, and production bottlenecks
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple vendors, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Meticulous housekeeping
  • Highly conscientious

Bonus

  • Understanding of game mechanics and player experience

Benefits & Perks

  • 6.5 weeks paid vacation
  • Eligible for Employee Stock Options Plan.
  • Flexible schedule and work location, with your choice of remote, hybrid, or on-site.

Transparency on use of AI and position vacancy

  • Our recruitment process does not use artificial intelligence to automatically screen, assess, or select applicants. All decisions on progressing, rejecting, and offering candidates are made by human reviewers.
  • One AI–enabled tool that may be used during the interview process is that of interview recording, transcription, and summarizing. Again, this would not make decisions, but simply make reviewing the notes easier. We will always ask for the candidates approval before using such a tool.
  • In compliance with Ontario regulations, the advertised posting is for a currently vacant position.
