Network Architect

Your Moneris Career – The Opportunity

Shape the enterprise network strategy for Moneris, leading architecture and modernization across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments within the Infrastructure Architecture, Engineering, and Cloud Operations team.

This role owns network standards, governance, and automation for a payments-grade estate — spanning Cisco Nexus and Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), Palo Alto Networks firewalls with Panorama, F5 BIG-IP and Web Application Firewall (WAF), and Azure networking (ExpressRoute, Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups). You will drive Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) adoption, deepen segmentation, and codify reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) patterns in Terraform, Ansible, and Python. Partnering with Operations, Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Engineering, Information Security, and Development, you will deliver secure, scalable, resilient network services that protect merchant traffic and accelerate delivery.

Additional Role Details

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Manager of Software Development

Posting Type: New Position

Salary Range: The expected base salary range for this role is $142,000 - $186,000

Total compensation may also include variable or discretionary incentive components, including but not limited to bonuses and commissions. Individual job offers are determined by various factors, including experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.

Your Moneris Career – What you'll do

  • Lead architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise network solutions across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.

  • Define and maintain network architecture standards, governance frameworks, policies, and operational processes.

  • Drive automation of network provisioning, deployment, upgrades, and lifecycle management using Terraform, Ansible, and Python.

  • Design and oversee secure internal, perimeter, and cloud-connected network infrastructures, including segmentation and access control.

  • Evaluate and govern adoption of emerging networking, cloud, and security technologies, including Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE).

  • Partner with Operations, Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Engineering, Information Security, and Development to deliver strategic initiatives.

  • Serve as network subject matter expert (SME) and escalation lead for complex incidents and critical production issues.

  • Ensure network solutions meet security, compliance, availability, and performance requirements for merchant services.

Your Moneris Career – What you bring

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Proven experience developing enterprise network architectures, technical standards, and solution designs in complex environments.

  • Hands-on expertise with Cisco Nexus, F5 BIG-IP and Web Application Firewall (WAF), and Palo Alto Networks firewalls managed via Panorama with multi-vsys, multi-device-group structures.

  • Deep expertise in routing and switching: internal and external Border Gateway Protocol (iBGP/eBGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS).

  • Software-Defined Networking (SDN) experience with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), Nutanix AHV / Open vSwitch, and Kubernetes networking.

  • Strong Microsoft Azure networking experience: ExpressRoute, Virtual Networks (VNets), Network Security Groups (NSGs), and Application Security Groups (ASGs).

  • Hands-on automation and scripting with Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, and PowerShell to build reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) patterns.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience within payments, merchant acquiring, or financial services.

  • Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE).
