Who You Will Work With:  

The vacant AppOps, Senior Specialist role will report to the Leader, Product Enablement.

The AppOps, Senior Specialist, is instrumental in ensuring the resiliency and performance of critical Interac applications, platforms and infrastructure. 

You will be responsible for managing, enhancing, tuning and supporting Interac’s products and services and proactively diagnose, resolve, and mitigate application and infrastructure problems to ensure optimal performance and 24/7/365 availability of our national payment systems. 
 
This is an exciting and fast-paced technical role which requires strong end-end insights, and expertise managing containerized applications with hands on experience in AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring service stability, resiliency and reliability across our cloud and hybrid environments. 

 

What You Will Do:

  • Driving, implementing, and prioritizing service stability and automation/optimization initiatives, ensuring adherence and compliance with Customer Journey Success and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Executing application releases/deployments/validations across nonproduction and production environments and lead release readiness, environment parity, and rollback plans.

  • Implementing monitoring solutions to track the performance, availability, and health of product workloads running on AWS infrastructure.

  • Developing and implementing scalable solutions to reduce manual intervention and streamline application deployments, testing, pre and post change validations, and availability, including self-healing and auto-scaling mechanisms. 

  • Optimizing performance by leveraging monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Dynatrace, CloudWatch, X-ray, CloudTrail,) and implementing anomaly detection and alerting strategies. 

  • Analyzing testing and production trends, proactively identifying and mitigating emerging issues in collaboration with Agile squads, and driving detailed root cause analysis and performance tuning. 

  • Supporting continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline deployments.

  • Providing technical expertise in maintaining security, technology currency, and vulnerability remediation, with a continuous improvement mindset and a strong focus on resiliency. 

  • Writing and maintaining thorough technical documentation and diagrams to support Application and Platform operations.   

  • Participating in 24/7 rotating on-call production support, executing critical changes, and responding swiftly to escalated issues, proactively mitigating risk and impact to our services. 

What You Bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Strong knowledge of Terraform and IaC principles.

  • Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud infrastructure with expertise in utilizing a wide range of cloud services such as EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, ECS, Lambda, etc.

  • Previous Experience with creating and managing end to end workload observability e.g. AWS, CloudWatch, Dynatrace. 

  • Good understanding of Cloud-based redundancy and network architecture: load-balancing, AZs, auto-scaling.

  • Good understanding of version control systems, such as Git, for managing codebases and collaboration. 

  • You have a good understanding of relational databases including cloud native e.g. Aurora PostgreSQL, and managed services such as RDS Oracle.

  • You have experience with microservices, containerization, and orchestration (i.e., Docker/Kubernetes). 

  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills and can seamlessly communicate with technical and business teams, stakeholders, clients, and partners.  

  • You are a self-starter and a collaborative team player, committed to continuous learning, growth and development.

  • Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.

The hiring range for this position is $105K-135K base, and you will also be eligible for our short-term incentive plan. The exact amount will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, but Interac’s commitment goes beyond compensation.
