What you'll be doing

As an Analyst, Data Analytics & Reporting, you'll be a key member of our Risk Finance team, supporting the development and enhancement of forecasting models for Pre-Provision Net Revenue (PPNR) line items. You'll collaborate closely with business partners to deliver portfolio analytics and actionable insights that drive financial performance across products such as loans, deposits, treasury management, capital markets, and wealth management.

Your focus will be on translating business and Finance objectives into scalable analytical solutions, executive-ready reporting, and ongoing monitoring tools. You'll use advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to improve forecast accuracy and explainability, automate reporting processes, and present findings to senior leaders. Working with limited direction, you'll ensure models and reports remain accurate and relevant through continuous validation and impact analysis.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

  • Model Development & Enhancement – Develop, document, and recalibrate PPNR forecasting models for revenue and expense line items, ensuring robust controls and ongoing accuracy.

  • Advanced Analytics Application – Apply statistical, econometric, and machine learning techniques to improve forecast precision and sensitivity to business drivers.

  • Data Management & Validation – Build, maintain, and reconcile datasets required for forecasting, ensuring data integrity across Finance and business systems.

  • Performance Analysis & Recommendations – Conduct diagnostic analyses such as back-testing and benchmarking, attributing variances and recommending actions to optimize outcomes.

  • Reporting & Visualization – Create and maintain dashboards and executive reports using tools like Power BI or Tableau to track key metrics, trends, and business drivers.

  • Process Automation – Automate recurring data and reporting processes using approved tools (Python, SQL, Power Automate) to enhance efficiency and transparency.

  • Stakeholder Communication – Present analytical findings, forecast drivers, and recommendations to senior stakeholders, using clear narratives and visual storytelling.

  • Portfolio Monitoring – Produce and maintain portfolio analytics and executive summaries, covering metrics such as balances, credit quality, pricing, and customer/product mix.

  • Quality Assurance – Manage deliverables with limited direction, assess impacts of requirement changes, and maintain test plans and validation checks for ongoing accuracy.

Who you are

  • You’re an analytical thinker. You have a strong ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights for business and Finance stakeholders.

  • You have relevant technical expertise. 1-3 years of experience with statistical, econometric, and machine learning techniques, as well as proficiency in Python, SQL, and data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.

  • You’re detail-oriented and quality-focused. You ensure data integrity, robust controls, and ongoing accuracy in forecasting models and reporting.

  • You’re a clear communicator. You can present complex analytical findings to senior stakeholders with clarity and impact, using both narrative and visual storytelling.

  • You’re collaborative and proactive. You work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage deliverables independently, adapting to changing requirements.

  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
