Who Are We?

At CMLS Financial, we strike a unique balance: the financial strength of a 50-year industry leader with the energy of a dynamic, fast-paced firm.

  • Growth & Exposure: With over $45 billion in assets under administration, our "booming" business means you gain high-level exposure and real opportunities for career advancement.
  • Supportive Culture: We are professional yet enjoyable. We provide a challenging environment supported by a team that wants you to succeed.
  • National Reach: Work with Canada’s most prominent banks, investment managers, and pension funds from a platform with offices coast to coast.

Join CMLS Financial as an Analyst, Commercial Lending, where you will provide the analytical support necessary to drive our deal pipeline. This position is responsible for investigating borrower quality and managing the documentation required to move commercial loans from the initial sign-up through to final funding.

Where You’ll Make An Impact:

  • Support the Deal Lifecycle: Act as a key coordinator once a deal is signed, assisting the Origination team in gathering due diligence and investigating the "who, what, and why" behind every loan request.
  • Analyze Financial Performance: Develop your technical skills by scrubbing property operating statements and financial data to help assess property performance and creditworthiness of the borrowing group.
  • Contribute to Credit Narratives: Collaborate with the team to draft Mortgage Presentations, learning to translate raw data into clear summaries that support our lending recommendations.
  • Facilitate the Funding Process: Help move deals from the Commitment Letter to the closing table by coordinating with the Funding, Legal, and Origination teams to ensure all pre-funding conditions are met.
  • Build Expertise Across Asset Classes: Gain exposure to the fundamentals of CMHC-insured multi-family lending, as well as uninsured deals spanning other asset classes inclusive of retail, industrial and office.
  • Track Market Dynamics: Monitor the real estate landscape nationwide, keeping a pulse on cap rates and industry news to ensure our team has the most current data for our risk assessments.

What We Value:

  • Post-secondary education in finance, economics, real estate, business administration, or a related field.
  • You leverage a deep understanding of financial statements and market trends to build high-impact presentations, transforming raw data into actionable insights for CMLS internal credit committee and other stakeholders.
  • A proactive, self-driven approach. You take full accountability for managing projects from inception to completion, ensuring every deadline is met without sacrificing quality.
  • A team player who loves sharing knowledge and brainstorming with stakeholders, but possesses the discipline to own your commitments and the ability to deliver results independently.
  • You possess a natural instinct for identifying inconsistencies in complex datasets and the persistence to investigate the "why" behind the numbers.
  • One (1) year of experience in commercial real estate underwriting, valuation, risk, or credit analysis will be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in English and French will be considered an asset.

Supporting Your Life at CMLS:

  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive insurance (Drug, Vision, Dental) & Health and Wellness Spending Accounts.
  • Mental Support: 24/7 unlimited access to telemedicine, EAP, and mental health services for you and your family.
  • Time Off: 4 weeks paid vacation, plus personal/sick days and all statutory holidays.
  • Future Planning: RRSP Matching Program to help you build long-term wealth.
  • Family Support: Robust Maternity and Parental Leave Top-Up programs.
  • Professional Growth: Education reimbursement, mentoring, and continuous training.
