What you’ll be doing

As a member of the National Accounts team, you will be responsible for providing a broad range of analytical and research support to the team, contributing to various aspects of loan underwriting, credit analysis and portfolio management. CIBC National Accounts consists of a team of banking professionals with expertise in lending to public and large private businesses. CIBC National Accounts specializes in structuring and managing larger credit facilities, complex structured transactions, and syndicated transactions.

As an Analyst or Associate, National Accounts, you will work with several senior professionals to support a wide range of clients and prospects and will attend discussions with client executives to assess the client’s financing needs. You will be responsible for supporting various aspects of loan underwriting, credit analysis and portfolio management. Specific duties include financial statement analysis, financial modeling, industry research and assisting in the drafting of information memoranda.

How you’ll succeed

  • Accountability – You will actively assist in the comprehensive due diligence process for new and existing credit transactions. You will contribute to ongoing account management responsibilities, ensuring that the portfolio meets with appropriate risk management guidelines and remains current with the changing methodologies. You will assist in the on-going monitoring of the terms and conditions of approved credit arrangements and appropriately identifying any relevant changes in the financial condition/business of a client.
  • Client Experience - You engage with the purpose of finding the right solutions for clients and delivering creative financing solutions and value-added ideas. You will attend discussions with clients (executive, financial and operational) to assess financing needs and assist in the preparation of financing proposals.
  • Analysis – You provide sound, timely, and well-communicated recommendations for credit facilities supported by a thorough analysis and well-executed interpretation of relevant financial, industry, business, and market information.
  • Collaboration – You will assist with the activities of many parties including Legal, Trading Documentation, Capital Markets Trading, Investment Banking and Corporate Adjudication.
  • Relationship Building – Develop good relations with internal customers, external customers, and general industry contacts to generate new referrals and business opportunities.

Who you are

We will be filling this role as either an Analyst or Associate dependent on the experience of the successful candidate.  To be considered for an Associate position, the following experience and/or skills are considered an asset:  you have experience in a commercial credit, professional accounting, transaction advisory, and/or equity investment environment. Excellent financial modeling and accounting skills. You understand lending policies, procedures and practices, valuation and M&A concepts, derivative instruments, loan assessment, industry and competitive analysis and investigation.

  • You have a diploma/degree. You have your BBA, BCom, or MBA. Other financial designations are considered an asset (i.e., CA, CBV, CMA, CFA etc.).
  • You have knowledge of or experience with financial and capital markets and solid analytical capabilities; financial modeling experience. Knowledge of corporate credit products or processes is an asset. You can assemble proposals and make recommendations
  • You are a strong communicator. You have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • You can work in a dynamic environment. prioritizing tasks to meet client demands and changing market conditions
  • You have strong organizational skills. You demonstrate the ability to meet tight deadlines and have demonstrated attention to detail
