Job Description

Reporting into the controller, the incumbent will be responsible for the full accounting cycle related to their designated business units.

  • Ensure the accuracy of accounting records.
  • Prepare and present monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Provide regular financial analysis to identify trends, variances and opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform monthly and year-end closing tasks.
  • Participate in various continuous improvement projects to optimize processes and reduce financial reporting cycle times.
  • Develop and prepare various value-added financial analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with tax obligations by preparing and submitting tax returns in accordance with applicable tax legislation.
  • Work closely with the company's various partners to understand their businesses, help them understand their financial drivers and challenge their assumptions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to obtain necessary information and resolve accounting issues.
  • Handle audit requests by collaborating with external auditors, providing the necessary documentation, and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Perusing CPA designation, an asset
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with an accounting ERP system 
  • Experience preparing financial statements 
  • Experience in performing account reconciliations and analysis 
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
