JOB DESCRIPTION

Compensation 

$51,200 - $95,900 

Purpose 

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accountant is responsible for effectively managing the full cycle accounting process, preparing and analyzing reporting packages and completing reconciliations. 

Responsibilities 

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts. Perform ongoing review investigation and correction to ensure consistency and accuracy 

  • Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities and capital.  Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet, and intercompany accounts.  Investigate and present solutions for any related discrepancies 

  • Perform intercompany consolidation and monthly settlement of intercompany transactions 

  • Monitor compliance with Sysco’s policies, procedures & accounting standards, e.g. SOX, FAMM, etc. 

  • Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports 

  • Maintain fixed assets sub-ledger and reporting and ensure all fixed asset transactions are submitted to the fixed asset system on a timely basis 

  • Prepare weekly and monthly reporting for internal, Corporate office and external reporting. 

  • Act as a subject matter expert for internal departments; provide accurate and timely information and support to the Manager, Financial Analysis and Reporting and Corporate Controller 

  • Collaborate with other members of the Finance Team to achieve overall operating objectives 

  • Conduct ad hoc projects as required 

  • Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met. 

  • Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor. 

  • Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Skills 

  • Must have a minimum of 1-2 years in an accounting related role. 

  • High School diploma required 

  • Completion of Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related degree preferred. 

  • CPA designation or currently working toward an accounting designation preferred. 

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office; proficiency in AS400 system a plus 

Education 

Bachelor's degree in related discipline.

  • Effectuer la consolidation intercompagnies et le règlement mensuel des transactions intercompagnies. 

  • Assurer la conformité aux politiques, procédures et normes comptables de Sysco, p. ex. SOX, FAMM, etc. 

  • Examiner, enquêter et corriger les erreurs et incohérences dans les écritures, documents et rapports financiers. 

  • Maintenir le sous‑grand livre des immobilisations et les rapports connexes, et s’assurer que toutes les transactions d’immobilisations sont soumises au système des immobilisations en temps opportun. 

  • Préparer les rapports hebdomadaires et mensuels pour les besoins internes, le bureau corporatif et les rapports externes. 

  • Agir comme expert(e) en la matière pour les services internes; fournir des renseignements exacts et opportuns ainsi qu’un soutien au gestionnaire, Analyse et rapports financiers, et au contrôleur corporatif. 

  • Collaborer avec les autres membres de l’équipe des finances pour atteindre les objectifs opérationnels globaux. 

  • Réaliser des projets ponctuels au besoin. 

  • Respecter la politique et les procédures de Sysco en matière de salubrité alimentaire afin d’assurer la conformité aux exigences de sécurité, de qualité et de légalité. 

  • Travailler de manière sécuritaire avec un impact environnemental minimal et comprendre l’importance de signaler immédiatement tout danger, incident ou déversement environnemental à son superviseur. 

  • Comprendre qu’il ou elle joue un rôle essentiel dans sa propre sécurité et celle de ses collègues, et être prêt(e) à intervenir lorsque des dangers sont présents. 

  • Effectuer toute autre tâche connexe. 

Compétences 

  • Minimum de 1 à 2 ans d’expérience dans un rôle lié à la comptabilité. 

  • Diplôme d’études secondaires requis. 

  • Baccalauréat en administration des affaires, finance ou domaine connexe (atout). 

  • Titre CPA ou démarche en cours vers une désignation comptable (atout). 

  • Maîtrise intermédiaire de Microsoft Office; connaissance du système AS400 (atout). 

Formation 

Baccalauréat dans une discipline connexe. 

Expérience 

Plus de 2 ans d’expérience.
