The Senior Data Scientist will influence Wealthsimple's crypto experience by leveraging data analysis, problem-solving skills, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to shape product strategy and improve customer engagement and retention.

As a Senior Analytics Developer in People Analytics, you'll design data pipelines, create employee records, and ensure data governance while collaborating with HR and Finance.

Lead end-to-end AI product development: define KPIs, design and train foundation/transformer models, run rigorous experiments (A/B, causal inference), build production training pipelines and evaluation harnesses, analyze feedback, and mentor teammates to translate models into measurable product impact.

Manage daily securities lending processes including loan/return settlement, reconciliations, discrepancy resolution, counterparty communication, billing/month-end, onboarding counterparties, and support for options and treasury cash movements.

Leads motion and product marketing design across Wealthsimple’s product launches, live events, app store presence, social content, and marketing surfaces. Translates product UI into polished animations, videos, prototypes, and static assets; maintains reusable UI and demo libraries; and supports marketing, brand, creative, growth, and web teams. Requires strong production skills, daily motion and video expertise, Figma fluency, independent execution, stakeholder management, and scalable AI-powered workflows.

Own Wealthsimple’s transfer pricing framework, including policies, governance, documentation, calculations, benchmarking, intercompany agreements, compliance, audits, and advisory work. Partner with Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Legal, FP&A, and business teams to assess tax implications of transactions, products, entities, and jurisdictions. Build scalable processes and controls, identify automation opportunities, manage advisors, monitor international tax developments, and support broader international tax matters as the company expands.

Own Wealthsimple’s direct tax function, including income tax provisions, current and deferred tax, forecasting, corporate compliance, tax positions, audits, elections, and entity-level tax documentation. Review T2 and provincial returns, support CRA and Revenu Quebec audits, resolve assessments, and advise on transactions and reorganizations. Establish risk-based review standards, maintain audit-ready workpapers, and lead technical documentation across a complex multi-entity group.

Lead development, testing, and maintenance of quantitative market risk models (VaR, SVaR, stress testing). Produce methodology documentation, model CIRO 5000 margin impacts, write production-quality code, collaborate across risk and reporting teams, and proactively identify and fix model performance issues.

Hire and lead a platform engineering team to define and build Wealthsimple's observability foundation. Own roadmap, instrumentation (OpenTelemetry), SDKs, high-cardinality event data models, SLO/SLI-driven reliability, vendor strategy, pilots, and AI-agent accessible production tooling while remaining hands-on for architecture and prototypes.

Design and build an events-first observability platform: architect high-throughput ingest, storage, and query pipelines; ship SDKs and instrumentation; define standards (OpenTelemetry, SLOs); enable AI-agent investigation and mentor senior engineers while leading cross-team technical initiatives.

Lead marketing and creative operations: prioritize intake, design workflows and tooling, run campaign operations, forecast budgets and resourcing, integrate AI responsibly, generate operational insights, and mentor producers/project managers to improve throughput and delivery.

Design and run automation-driven, AI-agent-assisted attack campaigns and red-team simulations against Wealthsimple products and infrastructure; build and improve automated testing pipelines, AI agents, and tooling; triage AI-generated findings into high-signal vulnerabilities; collaborate with platform engineers and AppSec to integrate adversarial testing into the SDLC and support remediation.

Lead paid social creative strategy and operate a high-volume testing engine from insight and concept through production, launch, reporting, and iteration. Partner with performance marketing, creative, influencer, and UGC teams to produce performance-oriented ads that meet iCAC targets, build documentation and AI-enabled workflows, and continuously optimize creative across Meta and TikTok.

Lead and grow the Financial Risk Engineering team to detect and respond to fraud. Own the technical roadmap, collaborate with product, compliance, and data science, stay hands-on in code and architecture, and operationalize fraud signals into real-time systems while shaping AI tool usage across the team.

Execute corporate and non-personal account onboarding and maintenance: review KYB/KYC, verify documentation, update systems, ensure compliance with CIRO/FINTRAC, and keep audit-ready records. Monitor SLAs, perform quality checks, escalate risks, support complex scenarios, contribute to SOPs and process improvements, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor newer team members while owning professional development.

Build and operate Wealthsimple's ML platform to take models from experimentation to production: design architecture, build framework-agnostic training/inference services, ensure scalability and observability, enable self-serve tooling for data scientists, and own long-lived ML infra projects (Kubernetes, Ray, LLM integrations).

The role focuses on providing client support, simplifying financial concepts, and ensuring client satisfaction through effective problem-solving and collaboration with various teams.

Lead capital and liquidity management across Wealthsimple's legal entities, owning reporting, planning, allocation, stress testing, and balance sheet optimization. Provide strategic advice to business leaders, maintain capital policies and risk frameworks, support Treasury modelling and AI-enabled improvements, and help lead and scale the Treasury team.

Own, design, build, and operate backend services that track real-time balances, reservations, and financial activity. Ensure low-latency, high-availability operation, evolve architecture without downtime, mentor engineers, and maintain production quality, observability, and correctness for critical fintech systems.

Lead vision and roadmap for social sharing and community products (e.g., screenshot sharing, WealthRank, Profiles). Drive product-led growth loops, experimentation, measurement, and cross-functional delivery to increase engagement, virality, retention, and new-client acquisition.
