Penguin Random House was formed on July 1, 2013 by Bertelsmann and Pearson, who own 75 per cent and 25 per cent respectively. As part of the global merger, Penguin Random House Canada was formed through the merger of Penguin Canada and Random House of Canada, who had operated in Canada for 39 and 69 years respectively.
