Teams at Extendicare

Manages the long-term care home’s infection prevention and control program, including audits, risk assessments, outbreak response, surveillance, staff training, immunization programs, mask-fit testing, corrective actions, budgeting, and regulatory coordination. Supervises staff, chairs IPAC committees, liaises with public health and hospital partners, supports labour relations, oversees health and safety activities, and serves as an on-duty manager.

Provide nursing care in community and long-term care settings following standards, physicians' orders and policies. Assess patients, implement and evaluate care plans, monitor health and vital signs, document changes, assist with infection control, and support seniors including those cognitively impaired.

The PSW role involves providing support and care to residents in long-term care homes, ensuring a safe and enriching environment.
