Analyze Java benchmarks and customer workloads to identify compiler performance gaps, then improve Falcon’s LLVM-based JIT optimizer and code generator. Implement optimizations such as inlining, loop transformations, vectorization, redundancy elimination, and speculative optimization for x86_64 and AArch64. Develop regression tests and benchmarks, investigate generated machine code, and contribute relevant improvements upstream to LLVM.

Own and improve Falcon, Azul’s LLVM-based JIT compiler, by designing, implementing, and validating optimizations across its middle and back ends. Responsibilities include code generation for x86_64 and AArch64, customer performance investigations, compiler performance analysis, code review, mentoring, and delivering measurable improvements to production workloads.

Design and implement new features and optimizations in the Falcon JIT compiler (based on LLVM) for Java bytecode. Improve LLVM performance for managed languages, perform performance analysis, contribute to OpenJDK, and collaborate with a distributed team of compiler experts.
