About the Role:

The Zonal Trade Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and executing trade marketing initiatives within a specific geographic zone to drive product visibility, sales, and trade relationships. This role focuses on creating and implementing marketing strategies that support the company's retail and distributor partners, aiming to enhance product positioning and increase sales volume. The Zonal Trade Marketing Specialist works closely with the sales, marketing, and distribution teams to ensure that trade marketing activities align with both regional and national business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Trade Marketing and channel wise sellout strategy:

  • Develop and implement local trade marketing plans tailored to the zone's market conditions and consumer behavior.

  • Store level working

  • Collaborate with the regional and national marketing teams to align trade marketing initiatives with broader company strategies.

  • Ensure that trade marketing campaigns are executed effectively at the retail and distributor levels

2. In-store Promotions & Activation:

  • Plan and execute in-store promotional activities, product displays, trade shows, and events that enhance brand visibility and drive product sales in the retail channel.

  • Manage the creation and distribution of point-of-sale (POS) materials, promotional kits, and signage to retail partners.

  • Ensure that retail partners and distributors adhere to brand guidelines and maintain optimal shelf space and product displays

3. Retailer and Distributor Relationships:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners, distributors, and wholesalers within the region.

  • Provide training and support to retail staff and distributors to increase product knowledge, enhance sales, and improve customer engagement.

  • Regularly visit retail stores and partner locations to monitor the effectiveness of trade marketing initiatives and gather feedback.

4. Market and Competitor Analysis:

  • Monitor competitor activities, trade promotions, and market trends within the assigned zone to ensure the company’s products remain competitive.

  • Conduct regular market visits to assess product placement, pricing strategies, and promotional effectiveness.

  • Provide insights to the marketing and sales teams to adjust trade marketing strategies as needed

5. Sales Support and Coordination:

  • Work closely with the sales team to ensure that trade marketing activities align with sales goals and objectives.

  • Provide the sales team with the necessary marketing collateral, tools, and resources to drive sales during promotions or activations.

  • Track sales performance during promotional periods and provide insights for future trade marketing campaigns

6. Trade Marketing Budget Management:

  • Assist in the development and management of the trade marketing budget for the region, ensuring activities are cost-effective and provide a strong return on investment (ROI).

  • Monitor expenses for trade marketing campaigns and ensure adherence to the budget.

  • Provide regular reports on the effectiveness and impact of trade marketing spend

7. Trade Marketing Reporting & Analytics:

  • Track and report on the performance of trade marketing campaigns using key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales growth, retailer compliance, market share, and promotional effectiveness.

  • Analyze sales and promotional data to assess the success of trade initiatives and identify areas for improvement.

  • Provide regular updates to the regional and national marketing teams regarding the status and outcomes of local trade marketing activities

About You:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field (MBA or additional qualifications are a plus)

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in trade marketing, field marketing, or sales in the consumer goods, FMCG, or retail industry.

    • Experience in working with retail partners, distributors, and sales teams to drive brand visibility and product sales

  • Skills:

    • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple trade marketing initiatives simultaneously.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with internal teams, retail partners, and distributors.

    • Analytical skills to assess trade marketing effectiveness and drive improvements.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and experience with trade marketing or CRM software is preferred

  • Personal Attributes:

    • Results-driven, with a focus on achieving KPIs and driving business outcomes.

    • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges in the trade channel.

    • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

    • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability

  • Additional Requirements:

    • Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned zone to manage and monitor trade marketing activities.

    • Ability to work irregular hours or weekends based on trade marketing events or promotional timelines.

    • Understanding of the local market dynamics and consumer behavior in the assigned zone.
