Company Description
WiseWomenCode is a unique experience designed to foster inclusivity and increase representation in the technology sector by providing support, guidance and opportunities to underrepresented individuals who are eager to kickstart their careers in the tech world.
This 3-day immersive experience is packed with valuable insights, hands-on workshops and networking opportunities, all aimed at boosting students’ confidence and helping them to explore different engineering paths within the fintech industry.
Since we launched the program in 2022, we’ve seen more than 120 participants from diverse backgrounds and underrepresented groups engage in our program and improve their confidence as they enter the tech industry.
As a bonus opportunity exclusive to our UT student participants, when they return to Austin we will offer 1-1 mentorship for six months with a member of the Wise US engineering team, giving them further opportunities to learn about the world of work.
Financial support:
This is a fully funded opportunity, so students will not incur out of pocket expenses for the essentials of their trip. This includes:
-
Round-trip flights, Austin → London
-
Taxis to and from the airport
-
5 nights in a hotel within walking distance to the Wise office
-
For food, breakfast will be included in the hotel stay, lunch will be provided at the Wise office each day, and students will receive a daily allowance of £37 to cover the cost of evening meals/snacks each day. Any discretionary spending outside of this list will be the responsibility of the students.
Selection process:
Students interested in applying for this opportunity must be freshmen at UT studying Computer Science and hold a valid passport. Industry experience is not required.
All students, regardless of gender identity, are encouraged to apply. While the program aims to address barriers faced by underrepresented groups in tech, the selection process is open to all eligible applicants. Selection will be based on merit, focusing on the applicant's passion for computer science, career aspirations, and interest in gaining insights into the fintech industry. These criteria will be applied consistently to all applicants.
