The Role:

We are seeking a results-oriented and collaborative Website Marketing Manager to join our dynamic marketing team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, eCommerce, you will be responsible for optimizing the entire customer journey on our direct-to-consumer eReader store, from initial discovery to successful checkout. Leveraging data-driven insights and cross-functional partnerships, you will enhance user experience, improve key performance indicators, and directly contribute to sales growth for our eReader eCommerce platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Journey & Conversion Optimization:
    • Fully understand and map the customer journey on our eReader store, identifying critical touchpoints and potential friction points.
    • Strategically recommend and execute initiatives to reduce friction and significantly increase checkout conversion rates.
    • Analyze user behavior data (e.g., heatmaps, session recordings, analytics) to uncover pain points and develop data-backed recommendations for continuous website experience improvements.
  • Website Development & Release Management:
    • Collaborate closely with in-house developers and agency partners to ideate, prioritize, manage, and release impactful website improvements on an ongoing basis.
    • Ensure rigorous testing and quality assurance (QA) processes are applied to all website changes prior to release.
  • Content Management & Brand Consistency:
    • Maintain and update website content, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and strict adherence to brand guidelines and messaging.
  • SEO & Organic Growth:
    • Partner effectively with the SEO team and front-end developers to implement on-page optimization strategies that improve organic search rankings and drive qualified traffic.
  • Product & Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work strategically with Product teams (for both the Kobo App and kobo.com bookstore) to increase and optimize eReader marketing placements and visibility, acting as a key marketing stakeholder for the eReader eCommerce business.
  • Strategic Planning & Prioritization:
    • Proactively recommend and prioritize website projects based on their potential impact, alignment with overarching business objectives, and return on investment.
    • Stay at the forefront of eCommerce best practices and industry trends, identifying innovative opportunities and technologies that can be leveraged to achieve and exceed business goals.

The Skillset:

Required:

  • 4-5 years of experience in eCommerce marketing, website optimization or conversion rate optimization, coupled with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or a related field.
  • Proven track record of improving website conversion rates, basket size, and user engagement.
  • Hands-on experience in web content management systems (CMS) and quality assurance (QA) processes
  • Strong analytical skills and able to synthesize data into clear, actionable next steps
  • Experience with web analytics platforms (e.g. Google analytics, heatmapping) and A/B Testing tools
  • Solid understanding of SEO principles and best practices.
  • Experience working with creative teams to guide and provide feedback on visual and copy assets.
  • Experience working with partners, clients, and cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent communication, collaboration and project management skills.

Nice to Haves:

  • Google Analytics certifications.
  • International marketing efforts are an asset.
  • Client-service or account management experience is an asset.
  • Foreign language skills (French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, etc.) or localization experience an asset.
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS, but development skills not required.
