Purpose:

VP Valuation will lead the actuarial function, with responsibility for the Bermuda Economic Balance sheet and internal capital management framework. This role is highly visible, with direct engagement across senior leadership. As a senior presence in the office, the VP will also serve as a key leader in fostering local culture, talent development, and cross-functional connectivity.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the design, execution, and governance of valuation frameworks that support the Bermuda Economic Balance sheet (EBS) and Athene’s internal capital framework.
  • Ensure actuarial models and processes are scalable and transparent.
  • Engage regularly with the Bermuda regulator on valuation and capital matters.
  • Act as an advisor to senior management and present to both internal and external Board’s as needed.
  • Drive collaboration across Finance, Risk, and Investments to align assumptions and methodologies across functions.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of actuaries and analysts, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a senior leader in the Toronto office, supporting people development, cultural leadership, and coordination with global actuarial and finance teams.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • FSA, FCIA, FIA, or equivalent actuarial qualification
  • 10+ years of experience in life (re)insurance, including leadership roles
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience presenting to executive committees, Boards and investors
  • Demonstrated ability to influence enterprise strategy
  • Commitment to mentoring and developing talent in a high-performance environment
