This pivotal role involves managing day-to-day operations, driving business growth, ensuring operational efficiency, and leading a high-performing team. The ideal candidate will posses a deep understanding of manufacturing, production processes, and business management within the industrial food and pharma sector, with a focus on capital equipment solutions.The Waterloo site is the center of MPT’s North American operation and responsible for the global production for many product lines. The VP GM will be responsible for the Quadro, Ytron, and Steridose business lines including the combined P&L This role will also be the Operational Site Leader for the Microfluidics brand in partnership with the Microfluidics General Manager. This role will drive the achievement of continued sustainable revenue growth and continue to the work to build great global teams, with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, all while living our Core Values of Trust, Team and Excellence.Reporting Relationships:The Waterloo VP GM & Site Leader reports directly into the Material Processing Technologies (MPT) Platform President, based in the United States . Reporting directly to this role will be the Commercial, Applications, Operations, and IT Leaders. The HR and Finance functions are on site with shared reporting relationships with the MPT Platform and IDEX corporate.Responsibilities:

  • Full Profit/Loss responsibility for a $65M business

  • Lead a team of 150+ employees across Canada, the US and Europe

  • Grow topline business by shifting from farmer to hunter mentality to drive a continual funnel of opportunities by getting closer to our end user customer.

  • Leverage 80/20 and the IDEX Operating Model as a way to prioritize growth opportunities as well as using continuous improvement as a way to drive engagement and productivity.

  • Focus on increasing development of new products that further the company’s ability to win and enhance the platform’s ability to respond to customer needs rapidly

  • Effectively manage key operating metrics such as lead time, on-time delivery, cost of poor quality, inventory, employee engagement

  • Leadership & Strategic Direction: Provide leadership to all operational and functional areas of the business, including production, engineering, quality, supply chain, and sales. Develop and execute the strategic plan for operational growth, aligning it with broader business goals and market opportunities. Act as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to overall company strategy and growth.

  • Culture: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and high-performance within the workforce.

  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the end-to-end production process for multiple product portfolios, form order intake to final delivery, ensuring products meet quality, cost, and timeline requirements. Optimize manufacturing efficiency, capacity planning, and resource allocation while managing costs and ensuring profitability.

  • Team Development & Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of managers and staff, fostering a collaborative and global environment.

  • Successful track record of at least 10 years of General Management and Leadership experience in an industrial manufacturing environment company that sells direct to customer as well as through distributors.
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering, or other related field of study.
  • Experience supporting global markets, supply chains, and teams.
  • Track record as an agent of change, who has established customer-centric and engineering-minded teams that are leading their customers, and the market, through collaborative partnerships
  • Excellent communication, relationship building and leadership skills with ability to evaluate organizations and its talent as well as align them with customer and organizational goals.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement methodologies, and operational excellence programs.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision making abilities, with a focus on data-driven solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proven track record of driving growth while maintaining a culture of excellence and openness
  • MPT is a global business and the leadership team is expected to collaborate in person, participate in corporate initiatives, visit key customers, and support our sales and service in the field. 15% – 25% travel both domestic and international is required.
