Position Summary:

The VP of Engineering at Miovision will lead all facets of engineering, encompassing both hardware and software development. This role demands a profound understanding of both domains, coupled with extensive experience in managing complex engineering organizations. The VP of Engineering will cultivate a high-performance engineering culture, drive innovation, and ensure the seamless and timely delivery of superior products that meet and exceed customer expectations. Close collaboration with the VP of Product Management is essential to align engineering efforts with product strategies and business objectives.
 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Technical Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the CTO to define and implement the technical strategy and architecture for Miovision's products.
  • Set the engineering organization’s technical direction and make key decisions on technology selection and implementation.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
  • Oversee the development of efficient, high-quality, and scalable engineering processes and best practices.

2. Hardware and Software Development:

  • Lead the development of hardware and software components for Miovision's products.
  • Ensure seamless integration between hardware and software efforts.
  • Partner with the Director of Hardware and common equipment to ensure hardware platforms meet application requirements.
  • Work with the Director of Software Platform to ensure the software platform supports all product lines.
  • Collaborate with VP Product Management to develop and maintain a three-year hardware roadmap and software platform roadmap
  • Oversee firmware development for all hardware devices.
  • Drive innovation in hardware and software design to enhance device capabilities and performance.

3. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing engineering team.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and continuous improvement culture.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop top engineering talent.
  • Develop career paths for engineers to promote growth within the organization.

4. Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality products that meet customer expectations.
  • Implement robust quality assurance processes and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure thorough testing and verification of all products.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with the VP of Product Management, Director of Product Line Management, Director of Hardware and Common Equipment, and Director Software Platform to align engineering and product roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with the Portfolio Manager to ensure engineering efforts align with the overall investment strategy.

6. Operational Efficiency:

  • Optimize engineering processes for efficiency and productivity. Focus on four primary metrics, Lead time to Deliver, Deployment Frequency, Mean time to repair, and change failure rate.
  • Implement metrics and reporting to track progress and identify improvement areas.
  • Incorporate AI software development tools to drive optimizations throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), enhancing efficiency and productivity.
  • Manage engineering budgets and resources effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing both hardware and software development teams.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of Agile and hardware development methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
