VP, Credit

Lead the development and maintenance of risk oversight for a portfolio of Small & Medium Enterprise (“SME”) leasing clients, including calibration and operationalization of Element’s risk tolerance, adjudication process and risk assurance process. Champion a customer focused culture to deepen customer relationships, anticipate risks that could lead to deterioration of the portfolio and our position with a customer, recommend appropriate courses of action, while being a key partner to our SME Commercial team in supporting profitable growth.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead risk oversight of the SME business, including the implementation of an automated credit adjudication platform.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of regional / industry knowledge / expertise and ability to ensure the ongoing quality of the portfolio through review of relevant portfolio and borrower information.
  • Execute ongoing monitoring of SME portfolio of accounts, completing periodic assessments and identifying potential problem areas and accounts for active management, including engagement with collections and workout partners if required.
  • Consult regularly with internal (i.e. Commercial and Collections teams) and external clients as necessary in the normal course of business.
  • Obtain, investigate, and analyze credit data, quickly addressing emerging risks across the client portfolio.
  • Lead and assist other team members on an as-needed basis in support of a “one team” approach to business development and portfolio management.
  • Develop and adhere to credit and operational policies and procedures and contribute to continued assessment and improvement of credit operating model for SME business.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance or Accounting business. With preferred post-graduate or Masters qualifications (CFA, CMA, MBA, etc.)
  • 10+ years of Commercial finance, leasing or lending experience; SME leasing experience is preferable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to analyze, interpret, draw conclusions, and clearly communicate solutions on a variety of issues with consideration given to the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
  • Capacity to collaborate with commercial, legal and operations stakeholders
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and ability to work cross functionally both internally and externally.
  • Proficient in business writing
  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal communication skills with ability to work effectively as a self-starter
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office product suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook) and internet-based applications

The hiring base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $225,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data.
