Reporting to the Head of Regulatory Capital and Actuarial Shared Service Centres, the VP Actuarial Innovation will be responsible for setting and delivering on bold ambitions to adapt the global actuarial function within Manulife. The incumbent will work across the actuarial function to ensure democratization of data, consistent tools across the globe,
and improved efficiency, including sensitivity and stress testing.
Under the VP’s leadership, AI will be integrated into all the actuarial processes to improve efficiency and decision-making.
Position Responsibilities:
Develop a vision for the global actuarial function that incorporates AI into everything we do.
Execute on a roadmap to take us from current state to the future vision of the actuarial function between now and 2028.
Determine resource needs (people and budget) to meet the future vision, collaborate with senior management to secure those resources and execute on time and on budget.
Lead key initiatives, including (but are not limited to):
Establishing one common set of global tools for all experience monitoring and experience studies using a common source of data, enabled by AI.
Implementing efficient, cost-effective processes for “what-if” scenarios that support financial disclosures, assumption setting, ALM, forecasting/planning, and stress testing, enabled by AI.
Shortening the system change management cycle to improve efficiency and better analysis.
General process/consistency improvements to rationalize reports, align with finance transformation and improve efficiency
Developing an actuarial AI community that supports continuous learning and development, with “AI Actuaries“ being deployed throughout the business.
People change management associated with the transformation.
Required Qualifications:
FSA/FCIA with 10+ years of experience in actuarial roles of increasing responsibility ; direct IFRS valuation experience is essential.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead/influence individuals without direct reporting relationships. Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong team-oriented approach.
Demonstrated ability to operate at both strategic and detailed levels.
Curious mindset; challenges the status quo; track record of setting bold ambitions and delivering results.
Detail-oriented with the ability to learn new concepts quickly.
Strong ability to communicate technical and non-technical issues to a wide variety of audiences.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent general knowledge of Manulife systems related to financial reporting and modeling.
Decisive and results-oriented.
Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.

Salary range is expected to be between
$175,700.00 CAD - $326,000.00 CADEmployees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
