Role Overview

The Vice President, Risk, Compliance & Internal Audit is responsible for setting the vision and direction for the organization’s risk management, compliance, and internal audit functions. This role ensures robust frameworks are in place for governance, risk management, and compliance are aligned with business strategy, and responsive to evolving regulatory and operational practices. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement, foster a culture of integrity and accountability, and serve as a key advisor to the Chief Financial Officer and the Audit Committee.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Set the vision and strategy for risk, compliance, and internal audit in alignment with overall business objectives.

  • Advise executive leadership and the board on emerging risks, regulatory changes, and strategic opportunities.

  • Lead the development and execution of annual internal audit, risk, and compliance plans.

  • Champion a culture of prudent risk management, and ethical conduct.
     

Risk Management

  • Enhance and operationalize the enterprise risk management framework, including risk appetite, key risk indicators, and risk aggregation.

  • Oversee identification, assessment, and mitigation of critical risks (e.g., financial, operational, cyber, third-party, fraud, capital projects).

  • Implement data analytics and automation for risk monitoring and reporting.

  • Support organizational resilience and crisis management initiatives.
     

Compliance

  • Develop and maintain an integrated compliance framework covering laws, regulations, company policies, investment mandates, and third-party contracts.

  • Collaborate with the Legal department and business units to ensure compliance with data privacy, anti-fraud, anti-bribery, AML, and other relevant regulations.

  • Lead compliance testing, training, and remediation efforts.

  • Prepare and present compliance reports to management and the board.
     

Internal Audit

  • Lead and manage financial, operational, and compliance audits, including planning, risk assessment, testing, and reporting.

  • Advance audit methodology, leveraging data analytics and continuous monitoring.

  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management and the Audit Committee.

  • Maintain strong relationships with external auditors and ensure effective resolution of audit findings.
     

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with executives, business leaders, and external partners.

  • Provide guidance and consultation on strategies to improve financial and operational performance.

  • Develop and retain a high-performing team, fostering professional growth and collaboration.
     

Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree in Business, Finance, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Professional designations (CPA, CA, FRM, CFA, or equivalents) highly desirable.

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in risk management, compliance, and internal audit, ideally within financial services, real estate, private equity, or pension fund environments.

  • Demonstrated business acumen, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Expertise in quantitative risk management, data analytics, and regulatory compliance.

  • Proven ability to drive change, manage complex projects, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
