About the Team:
In 2022 we launched Nicola Institutional, which as of Dec 2024 manages $2.5 billion in assets. This division connects our exceptional asset management offering to the institutional market. We are seeking an exceptional team member to join the growing Nicola Institutional division and contribute to its continued impact and growth.
Purpose of the Role:
The Vice President, Institutional Sales will play an instrumental role leading and shaping the growth our Institutional service offering. The VP will secure new institutional client business and build relationships with key decision-makers within these institutions and understand their complex investment needs. The successful incumbent will work with institutional investors to identify appropriate solutions to meet their investment needs while working closely with their finance committees and consultants. We are looking for a dynamic and entrepreneurial individual with a proven track record and extensive experience in Institutional Sales.
This Ontario-based position follows a hybrid work model that includes in-office work, field travel, and remote work from home.
Core Responsibilities:
- Working collaboratively across the firm to execute on our institutional strategy and grow our Institutional division.
- Winning new business and growing our clientele in the Foundation, Charitable Endowment, First Nations, University, Corporation, Pensions, Health & Wellness Plans and Single-Family Office market.
- Developing and strengthening client relationships and building new relationships via client referrals, centers of influence, networking and other business development opportunities.
- Responding to Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Due Diligence Questionnaires as required to secure new business.
- Working alongside the investment teams in our three asset management teams (Private Capital, Public Assets and Real Estate), propose customized investment portfolios with targeted solutions to sophisticated institutional clients, often with large account and complex account types.
- Preparing presentation material for existing and prospective clients.
- Continually working to improve existing processes and procedures to serve Nicola Wealth’s institutional client base.
- Working closely with the marketing and compliance solutions departments to create and develop new marketing material to aid in the development of new business.
- Maintaining and nurturing client relationships throughout varying market and performance conditions by providing clients with proactive and exceptional service.
- Establishing deep relationships with a sophisticated client base and guiding their asset allocation, and asset class understanding, while meeting their investment objectives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Canadian financial service industry including institutional sales.
- CFA or CIM designation is an asset as registration in an advising role with a provincial securities commission is required.
- French language skills considered an asset.
Compensation & Benefits Package:
This position comes with a competitive base salary hiring range of $250,000 - $300,000; dependent on experience, skills, qualifications and internal equity.
