Want a seat at our table? The UX Designer II will work in a cross-functional team under our UX Manager. As an advocate for user experience within the company, this role will cultivate an environment of creativity and collaboration across disciplines and create experiences for restaurant guests, operations and management.
This role participates in user research and strategy, information architecture, and interaction design to create superb user experiences. They understand the business requirements of all key stakeholders then translate those requirements into experiences that result in guest engagement. They must have the ability to bring order to complexity along with excellent communication, organizational and time-management skills.
The Main Course – Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and create UX/UI designs for tabletop devices, handheld tablets, web browsers, and mobile apps, incorporating AI-assisted tools where they improve workflow efficiency or exploration.
- Play a hands-on role in user research, persona development, journey mapping, card sorting, and usability testing- using AI-supported research and analysis tools when appropriate to speed up synthesis and pattern-finding.
- Design clear, visually compelling interface layouts aligned with product and partner brand aesthetics, primarily using Figma alongside other design tools, including AI-augmented features.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and interaction patterns informed by user-centric design principles, with optional AI tools to support ideation and rapid iteration.
- Utilize qualitative and quantitative research- enhanced by AI where helpful- to inform experience design and support measurable business outcomes.
- Build prototypes that effectively communicate navigation, hierarchy, and interaction flows, including any AI-driven or adaptive elements.
- Clearly communicate research insights, design concepts, and rationale to cross-functional teams such as Product, QA, Engineering, Sales, and Support. AI tools may be used to support documentation or visualization when useful.
- Attend customer meetings to gather requirements, perform analysis, and conduct competitive research. AI-powered analysis tools may be used to support preparation and insight-gathering.
- Stay current on modern design aesthetics, tools, and techniques- including emerging AI capabilities within the design workflow.
- Build reusable UI components and help maintain a consistent, scalable design system that may include AI-assisted patterns or adaptive components.
- Understand how motion, transitions, and animations support user experience, including clarity around system intelligence or automation when relevant.
What You Bring to the Table – Qualifications
- A strong online portfolio demonstrating UX/UI process, ideation, and outcomes; examples that show how you use AI to improve workflow or outcomes are a plus.
- 3-5 years of dedicated UX experience in web, mobile, or related environments.
- Solid background designing consumer-facing applications across mobile, tablet, or desktop.
- Strong understanding of UX principles and hands-on experience with user-centered design and heuristics using industry-standard tools, including AI-assisted features where relevant.
- Ability to independently run portions of the design process (discovery, flows, wireframes, usability testing), using AI tools to accelerate portions of the workflow when appropriate.
- Familiarity with industry best practices and the judgment to apply them effectively- including when (and when not) to apply AI.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with Figma or similar design tools, including AI-supported functionality.
- Strong knowledge of design systems and building robust, reusable components.
- Bachelor’s degree in a design-related discipline such as Interaction Design, HCI, Interface Design, Design Planning, or Graphic Design.
