Our Underwriting team is growing, and we are looking for a commercial underwriter specializing in snow removal & roofing contractors to continue to grow our book of business!


This is an exciting opportunity for an expert underwriter to create, grow and take ownership of hard to place risks and continue the growth of our book of business at Zensurance.


Reporting to our Operational Underwriting team, you will be collaborating with various stakeholders including brokers, portfolio underwriters and our insurance analytics team to further our insurance offerings to brokers at Zensurance.

You will be primarily responsible for broker referrals, as well as collaborating on a variety of topics related to supporting the overall success of this book of business.

Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite and manage a book consisting of snow removal and roofing contractors.
  • Meet premium and bind ratio targets while maintaining a disciplined underwriting approach.
  • Contribute to operational efficiency, ensuring streamlined processes and data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with leadership to shape the growth and profitability strategy for the new program.
  • Provide input on pricing strategy to ensure market competitiveness.
  • Collaborate on underwriting guidelines, wordings, endorsements, extensions, and exclusions based on appetite expansions, customer demand, and evolving offerings in the marketplace.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with Zensurance brokers, acting as a trusted partner in the marketplace.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of commercial underwriting experience specializing in snow removal and/or roofing risks.
  • CIP, CRM or FCIP would be an asset.
  • Experience working with an MGA or program specific division of an Insurance Company.
  • Ability to build relationships both with markets and brokers.
  • Proven track record of achieving premium and bind ratio targets.
  • Ability to utilize collaboration skills while taking ownership of projects.
