Mission
As a core member of the Sales and Agronomy team, you will play an integral role in the company’s success through strong agronomic recommendations, technical expertise, customer engagement, data generation, and commercial support activities.
This role is primarily focused on the Western Canadian market while also supporting broader Canadian expansion opportunities as needed. You will bring a deep understanding of the Canadian agricultural marketplace, Western Canadian cropping systems, and agronomic practices, along with the ability to influence and build relationships with key retailers, growers, consultants, universities, distributors, and agricultural influencers.
You will support the technical and commercial positioning of Vive Crop Protection’s Precision Chemistry™ technologies and innovative crop protection solutions while helping drive product adoption, market expansion, and long-term business growth.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
1. Training, Technical Support & Customer Engagement
- Build productive and professional relationships with key retailers, points of sale, farmers, crop advisors, universities, and agricultural influencers across Western Canada to increase product knowledge, confidence, and adoption.
- Deliver agronomic training, technical support, and field-based insights to internal sales teams, retail partners, distributors, and growers to support the current portfolio and future product launches.
- Act as the technical lead in supporting sales strategy, customer acquisition, demand generation, and market penetration across Western Canada.
- Provide agronomic expertise and technical recommendations that support customer success and strengthen Vive’s position within the marketplace.
- Represent Vive at industry events, agronomy meetings, trade shows, customer-facing technical engagements, and grower education events.
2. Portfolio Development, Market Intelligence & Agronomic Leadership
- Work closely with Product Management, Biology, Marketing, Sales, and Product Development teams to identify new market opportunities, evaluate agronomic needs, and support decisions on products to add to the portfolio.
- Lead and coordinate field-scale and small plot trial programs across Western Canada to generate high-quality agronomic and performance data.
- Collaborate with Product Development and Biology teams to strengthen agronomic data capture, analysis, knowledge transfer, and technical insights that inform product positioning and future portfolio growth.
- Monitor competitive technologies, agronomic trends, resistance management practices, and customer feedback to provide market intelligence that supports portfolio strategy and positioning.
- Support the integration and positioning of biological and Precision Chemistry™ solutions within modern Western Canadian crop production systems.
- Provide innovative ideas for business growth by combining agronomic expertise, market knowledge, and customer insights to uncover new opportunities for the business.
- Utilize digital agronomy and precision agriculture tools to support agronomic recommendations, product positioning, and customer decision-making.
3. Market Expansion & Commercial Growth
- Partner closely with Sales and Marketing teams to represent the voice of the customer and help shape market-facing strategies across Western Canada.
- Support revenue growth by driving demand generation activities, influencing product adoption, and supporting commercial execution with retail and distribution partners.
- Partner with Sales leadership to identify new points of sale, strengthen channel relationships, and expand market presence across Western Canada.
- Own technical agronomic strategy and customer engagement activities within the assigned Western Canadian territory.
- Support internal teams with technical insights that contribute to successful product launches and long-term market development.
Skills & Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Physiology, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Science, Plant Production, or an equivalent discipline with a strong focus on crop protection.
- 7+ years of agronomy support, technical service, sales agronomy, or market development experience within Canadian agriculture.
- Strong understanding of Western Canadian cropping systems including cereals, canola, pulse crops, and specialty crops.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing small plot and field-scale trial programs, supported by a strong background in general agronomy and Canadian cropping systems.
- Strong understanding of crop protection products and their use; experience with biologicals and emerging crop input technologies is considered an asset.
- Superior understanding of grower agronomic decision-making across a range of cropping systems and environmental conditions.
- Experience working with key influencers, universities, seed companies, ag retailers, distributors, consultants, and progressive growers; prior experience with an ag-retailer is considered an asset.
- Experience introducing new products and technologies into the marketplace and supporting commercial adoption.
- Experience utilizing digital agronomy and precision agriculture technologies to support customer recommendations and agronomic insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and build trusted relationships across the industry.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project management abilities with an independent, self-starting attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced growth environment.
Requirements
- Valid passport with the ability to travel as needed, primarily across Western Canada, periodically in Eastern Canada and parts of the US (travel up to 50%, depending on home location).
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel extensively during key seasonal periods, customer events, and trial activities.
