Who we are:

Financeit is a point-of-sale financing provider serving some of the largest home improvement and retail organizations in Canada. Our platform helps businesses close more sales by offering customers affordable monthly payment options for their next big home improvement, vehicle or retail purchase. We are small enough that you can make an impact within the company and large enough to make an impact in the market.

Financeit is a company where collaboration, inclusivity, fairness, and respect aren’t just ideas that get talked about, but are part of who we are. If such a workplace intrigues you, we hope you’ll join us.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Technical Product Manager to help drive the roadmap for the Financeit Loan Servicing platform through leading the definition, execution, and roll-out of features that support the needs of our Operations, Finance, and Risk teams, as well as our Lending partners.

Are you the right fit?

Loan Servicing at Financeit is a highly technical function that deals with everything after a customer loan is funded, following the homeowner through their multi-year journey with us. It is the heart of our cash-flow engine.

You’re comfortable working “under the hood” of the product, and can guide engineers through complex, math-heavy requirements to ensure that our data is immutable and audit-ready.

You feel energized by automating a manual process, and thrive in “edge case” scenarios, identifying and solving outlier issues that break a workflow that works 99% of the time.

You’re a detail oriented and analytical team player with a positive attitude and the experience to lead product development teams through all stages of the product lifecycle. You are also comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, and hold yourself accountable for results.

This position will report directly to the Platform Product Manager — Servicing, and will work closely with everyone on the Financeit team.

What you'll be doing:

  • Reporting to the Platform Product Manager to gain a deep understanding of the external and internal customer needs, and facilitate technical discovery to help identify constraints and workarounds and to fill product gaps,
  • Manage a healthy backlog and coordinate the activities of the development team, consisting of Developers, Quality Assurance, and UX designers in an agile product development cycle.
  • Facilitate the process for the team to figure out “how” a feature/story will be developed, including leading grooming and planning meetings, facilitating daily stand-ups, breaking down stories/requirements into technical tasks and effort estimation, and ensuring stories meet the “definition of ready” before a sprint.
  • Produce detailed business and functional requirements documentation including complex scenario mapping based on a combination of qualitative research with quantitative data
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders for optimum solutions to delivering value, including Risk, Operations, Collections, Finance, Legal, and Compliance to deliver product in a regulated industry
  • Maintain relevant metrics that help the team see how they are doing; measures the efficiency and predictability of the dev team.
  • Monitor, track and provide outward communication for transparency on the team’s progress against their delivery goals for key product/feature releases, communicating status, blockers, and launch dates to key stakeholders.
  • Documents details around each release, outlining product details and project rationale, complex financial flows, lender-specific logic, and internal system architecture changes.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in product management, business analysis, or software development management
  • Minimum of 2 years leading dev teams in an Agile environment through continuous delivery of product roadmaps
  • Direct experience building out complex web/SaaS platforms for the banking / lending / FinTech industry
  • Direct experience integrating automation platforms and proven track record in process improvement a big plus
  • Analytical and meticulous - can easily find the edge cases when developing business requirements
  • Exceptional written and in-person presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to engage and challenge internal stakeholders asking them the right questions
  • Attention to detail and the tenacity to make sure quality standards are high
  • Ability to work with other disciplines to help make barriers disappear
  • Great work ethic and sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to think outside the box, suggesting creative solutions for complex problems.
