About the team

Stripe's infrastructure powers businesses all over the world. Revenue Foundations provides a central entry point for Stripe products to monetize in global markets. We sit at the intersection of product, sales, engineering, finance, and operations, acting as the connective tissue that ensures users have a frictionless billing experience with Stripe. Our work is core to Stripe's business, ensuring billing accuracy and fee transparency while supporting complex custom solutions for our largest enterprise users.

As a Financial Data Analyst at Stripe, you'll be the go-to expert for resolving billing discrepancies, analyzing fee structures, and ensuring accurate fee application across our user base. You'll work at the intersection of technical billing systems, internal teams, and customers, serving as a critical liaison to investigate and resolve complex billing issues while identifying scalable solutions through data analysis.

What you’ll doStakeholder Management & Communication
  • Coordinate with Legal, Sales teams, Engineering, Product, Operations, and Finance to analyze root causes and resolve billing issues in a timely manner
  • Conduct user meetings to explain billing adjustments, advise account teams on proper user communication around billing issues, and provide clear explanations of complex analyses
  • Advocate for the user, communicate urgency, provide user/account team context for successful user happiness credit approvals, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to put together the data needed
  • Manage communications between product, engineering, sales, customer success, technical account managers, and legal teams across the organization
  • Educate and advise account teams on existing user billing policies to determine the best path forward to resolve billing issues
  • Influence and partner with specialized billing teams to ensure rapid and accurate negotiated pricing onboarding and billing setup

 

Technical Analysis & Process Optimization

  • Analyze complex datasets using SQL to identify billing discrepancies and resolve data quality issues
  • Conduct pricing audits and calculate Stripe fees for complex, high-value customer accounts
  • Analyze operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and data-driven decision making
  • Create and maintain documentation for billing adjustments and user reports
  • Identify patterns in billing issues to develop scalable solutions and automate operational processes

Minimum requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to break down complex problems into simple, executable steps
  • Ability to review and interpret user contracts to identify billing discrepancies
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing financial data and user agreements
  • Experience managing communications with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • 2+ years of experience in a Data Analyst, Financial Analyst, Operations Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Solutions Architect, or Data Engineering role
  • Strong proficiency in writing complex SQL to query relational databases
  • Knowledge of a scientific computing language (such as Scala or Python)
  • Strong analytical skills to investigate, prioritize, and identify root causes of non-trivial issues
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent work streams and meeting time-sensitive deadlines
Preferred qualifications
  • Previous experience working closely with sales teams (Account Executives, CSMs, TAMs)
  • Background in billing, revenue operations, payments, or financial technology
  • Experience with payment processing platforms
  • Experience in creating and improving operational processes
