Role Overview
The Technical Manager is responsible for leading and managing all technical streams across InterSystems implementation engagements, including system build and configuration, integration, data migration, outputs and reporting, and solution customization. The role provides end-to-end technical governance across TrakCare and HealthShare implementations, ensuring that solutions are delivered to agreed timelines, quality standards, and business objectives.
The Technical Manager acts as the senior technical authority on projects and a trusted advisor to customers, working effectively with senior clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders. The role combines deep technical expertise with strong customer-facing skills, business acumen, and the ability to operate credibly with high-standing clients. The position includes line management responsibility and close collaboration with sales, delivery, and regional teams.
Travel of up to 50% is required.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strong technical leadership across all implementation streams, including system build, integration, data migration, outputs, and customization.
Define and maintain technical governance for delivery engagements, ensuring adherence to architecture standards, delivery methodology, timelines, and quality expectations.
Lead technical input during pre-sales and early post-sales phases, including solution design, estimation, risk assessment, and contribution to proposals.
Act as the primary technical point of escalation and senior technical advisor for customers throughout the lifecycle of engagements.
Ensure appropriate allocation of technical resources across projects, resolving priority conflicts and planning future capability and capacity requirements.
Develop, coach, and grow technical teams, building depth of expertise across TrakCare, HealthShare, and underlying InterSystems technologies.
Collaborate with project and programme leadership to ensure technical delivery aligns with overall business and contractual objectives.
Engage directly with customers to understand business needs and translate them into robust technical solutions that deliver measurable value.
Lead and contribute to complex technical investigations and problem resolution where required.
Produce and deliver high-quality technical documentation and executive-level technical presentations.
Collaborate with other regions to share best practices, improve efficiency, and ensure consistency of technical approach.
Champion the adoption of new technologies and approaches, including AI-enabled capabilities, where they provide clear customer and delivery benefits.
Provide line management, performance management, and professional development support for assigned staff.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential
Strong technical background across enterprise healthcare systems, including system configuration, integration, data migration, and customization.
Proven experience managing complex, multi-stream application implementations.
Demonstrable customer-facing experience in both pre-sales and delivery contexts, engaging with senior stakeholders.
Strong understanding of interoperability standards, including HL7 and FHIR.
Ability to combine technical depth with commercial awareness and business acumen.
Familiarity with project and programme delivery frameworks.
Self-starter with the ability to rapidly master large, complex product suites.
Desirable
Experience leading technical teams in complex or high-pressure environments.
Hands-on experience with InterSystems technologies such as IRIS for Health, Health Connect, Cache, or Ensemble.
Experience delivering healthcare IT solutions at regional or national scale.
Software engineering background.
