While reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Technical Manager will be responsible being the Primary technical resource to the plant for film characteristics, adhesive capabilities, printing & lamination expertise, and processing technology. You will also work with sales/technical representatives and customers in the commercialization process, bringing potential business opportunities that have been developed for the plant and running them through a trial process that verifies the long-term capability of manufacturing to produce a functional product for the customer.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Primary technical resource to the plant for film characteristics, adhesive capabilities, printing & lamination expertise, and processing technology.
  • Leads the plant technical team – works closely with the divisional R&D group and account technical representatives.
  • Supply customers with trial material in a timely manner, while also minimizing trial expenses. Interfaces directly with customers – expected to visit and support trial runs at customers.
  • Establish technical product specifications, process conditions and quality testing protocol for all products manufactured.
  • Manage the plant’s technical information, such as manufacturing specifications, key quality testing for products and maintaining the information for current products within the plant’s computer operations. Also, manage change control and process changes.
  • Participate in quality and productivity improvement opportunities that drive cost out of raw material supply, product structure design and manufacturing techniques used at the plant. Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing background is a plus.
  • Works closely with plant quality team in coordinating customer quality audits, internal audits, and GMP/Product Safety audits.
  • Work with customers to develop root cause/corrective actions for quality concerns or to support a customer’s inability to run the product.
  • Audit raw material and equipment suppliers.

 
This position can will be based in Mississauga, Canada

We’d love to hear from you if:

  • BS degree; technical field is required
  • 5+ years of experience in adhesive and/or extrusion lamination preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in rotogravure printing preferred

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $113,600 to $127,800
