Lead technical delivery for the Product Implementation team, balancing speed and long-term technical health. Mentor developers, manage technical forums, enforce NFRs, quantify technical risks, support estimation and readiness processes, resolve inter-team dependencies, ensure DevOps self-sufficiency, and maintain accurate time tracking and compliance.
The Technical Manager will serve as the engineering anchor of the Product Implementation team. This role is essential in ensuring we solve complex problems through a reliable, transparent, and data-informed process through working closely with Technical and Delivery leads to ensure implementations are built with technical sophistication and rigour required for long-term scalability and maintenance. The technical manager will be critical in managing daily operations, guidance to achieve technical ownership, and fostering a culture of intellectual honesty
Responsibilities:
- Ensure a balance between implementation speed and long-term technical health by adhering to key Product principles (Value, Viability and Feasibility).
- Collaborate with Technical Leads to support the feasibility of all technical solutions, ensuring they are maintainable and aligned with architectural standards.
- Manage technical forums (Developer and Architecture) and ensure they are to support the feasibility of all technical solutions, ensuring they are maintainable and aligned with our architectural standards.
- Cultivate a team environment where technical trade-offs are discussed openly and evaluated with data, replacing convenience with engineering excellence.
- Guide developers through their progression from foundational task execution to intermediate technical ownership and advanced strategic leadership .
- Ensure regular feedback, mentorship, and coaching for Software Developers to ensure successful and effective solution delivery and professional growth and development.
- Participate in the standard high-level estimation process, moving from single-point guesses to risk-adjusted forecasting.
- Systematically qualify technical confidence and quantify its impact by identifying risks, assumptions, and dependencies for every Epic.
- Guide technical readiness by holding developers accountable to the timebox and expected outcomes of technical spikes defined during the Readiness Sprint.
- Enforce the proactive handling of Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), such as complexity and latency, treating them as non-negotiable constraints for every implementation.
- Guide the technical breakouts during the Planning Summit and hold teams accountable for achieving a high-confidence level in their 12-week commitments.
- Participate in the Scrum of Scrums (SoS) and help resolve inter-team dependencies and manage program-level risks.
- Empower the team to resolve pipeline or environment hurdles internally, fostering a culture of DevOps self-sufficiency.
- Assume ultimate accountability for the technical health of departmental commitments and the accurate reporting of billable hours within the project management tools.
- Accountable for ensuring that all working hours are accurately reported in Time Tracking System on a daily or weekly basis, that the majority of (if not all) hours are tracked as billable and that the project management tool in the time tracking system is properly and fully utilized.
- Tracking and reporting of billable hours is a critical aspect of project management and delivery to our customers and this is a major area of accountability.

Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in software development with 3+ years of people management/leadership experience. Experience in healthcare technology industry, preferred.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering or similar and/or equivalent work experience.
- Proven track record in engineering management, specifically within implementation or client-facing product environments.
- Deep understanding of Agile methodology, high-level estimation rubrics, and dependency management.
- Ability to use data to qualify technical confidence and identify risks, assumptions, and dependencies.
