Job Description
As a Technical Manager at Doka Canada, you will oversee the Technical/Engineering Department within the Bolton branch, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality engineering support and design solutions. You will provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to your team, while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead and Supervise: Provide strong leadership, guidance, and supervision to all engineers and technicians in your branch.
- Collaborate with Sales: Work with the sales team to produce and oversee the production of proposals and working drawings for Doka formwork systems.
- Develop Schedules: Create work schedules, evaluate employee performance, and conduct formal annual performance reviews.
- Conduct Training: Participate in and conduct staff training programs, ensuring continuous education in calculations, formwork, product knowledge, and software applications.
- Support Management: Assist the Sales Manager and Branch Manager in determining appropriate formwork solutions that meet customer needs, while adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure Compliance: Design work using available inventory and ensure it meets contractual obligations.
- Manage Projects: Oversee and certify the engineering work products of your team, ensuring the drawings indicate the proper and safe use of Doka forming equipment.
- Handle Special Projects: Manage special projects, ensuring they receive appropriate attention and development.
- Adhere to Policies: Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and performance standards.
- Hire and Train: Hire, train, and supervise all engineers and technicians in your department.
- Motivate Team: Delegate work effectively and motivate your team to meet branch objectives.
- Collaborate Strategically: Work with the Branch Manager to align company and branch initiatives strategically.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (structural, civil, or mechanical) required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of formwork experience required.
- Professional Engineering license preferred; ability to obtain a P.Eng license is an asset.
- Proficient computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCAD.
- Excellent communication skills, with a strong command of English
- Strong analytical skills, technical proficiency, and effective problem-solving abilities.
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian building codes, regulations, and trends impacting the formwork industry.
