Hi, Future Homie!

At Homebase, you’ll join a team that’s bold, fast-moving, and obsessed with helping small businesses thrive. We build with empathy, act with urgency, and take big swings that drive real-world impact. Here, every Homie shows up to raise the bar, support one another, and celebrate wins as a team. We’re not just building an app—we’re building unstoppable teams. So what do you say, are you in?

You’ll join the Schedule Builder (SB) and Human Resource Management (HRM) domain, which together power how small business managers manage their people and their schedules. HRM focuses on everything about a business’s team at a given location—who they are, what they do, and how they grow. SB drives how those teams are staffed, how shifts are created, and how AI helps business owners manage time more efficiently.

📍 Your Impact Starts Here

We're looking for a Senior Full-stack Engineer to own critical product work on our Human Resource Management (HRM) platform. You'll build employee-facing experiences that small businesses rely on daily— team roster, compliance, HR, and onboarding—and help evolve our Rails + React architecture for the next phase of growth.

This is a senior IC role with informal technical leadership. You'll drive projects end-to-end, mentor engineers through pairing and design reviews, and collaborate closely with product, design, and data science to ship features that eliminate busywork for our customers.

If you love solving real-world problems with craftsmanship and speed, and you're energized by using AI to work faster and smarter, we want to hear from you.

  • Own end-to-end delivery – Lead projects from technical design through production for the HRM domain, working across Rails services and modern React (TypeScript) frontends.

  • Write production code – You're hands-on across the stack: Ruby, Rails, React, Postgres. You debug performance issues, refactor legacy code, and ship clean, testable features.

  • Shape technical direction – Partner with the Engineers, PM, and Designer to make architecture decisions. Participate in critical design discussions with engineering and product leadership.

  • Mentor and raise the bar – Guide engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, and technical feedback. Help the team level up on patterns, testing, and system design.

  • Build with AI – Use AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude) daily to move faster. Build features that integrate AI capabilities where they make sense (e.g., intelligent scheduling, workflow automation).

  • Collaborate cross-functionally – Work with data teams to productionize models, coordinate with platform teams on shared infrastructure, and align with other domain teams (SB, CE, and more) on cross-cutting initiatives.

🚀 The Foundation for Success – These are the experiences and strengths that will set you up for success in this role:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years working full-stack in Ruby on Rails and modern frontend frameworks (React, or similar).

  • Strong track record of shipping complex features end-to-end with measurable customer impact. You have solid product sense and understand how to balance speed with quality.

  • Deep technical strength in performance/scalability and production debugging across the stack—database queries, service architecture, and frontend optimization.

  • You're comfortable using AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude, or similar) in your daily workflow and excited to experiment with new tools that improve efficiency.

  • You've helped other engineers grow through pairing, design reviews, or technical feedback. You enjoy teaching and raising the bar for the team.

  • TypeScript experience preferred.

🤝 The Homie Way

  • 💡 Be Customer Obsessed – Solve problems with empathy and creativity.

  • Move Fast, Learn Fast – Experiment, take action, and grow every day.

  • 🎯 Own Your Impact – Think big, focus on what matters, and make decisions you stand behind.

  • 🏆 Master Your Craft – Excellence fuels impact—show up, step up, and make your mark.

  • 🏅 Win Together – Put goals over roles, lead with trust, and connect to our mission and each other.
