What’s the scope of this role?

We’re currently looking for a full-time Technical Editor to join our growing company! In this role, you’ll be responsible for collaborating with our global team of technical writers and editors, instructional designers, and trainers to edit a variety of technical content, including user guides, job aids, presentations, workbooks, and eLearning courses. As a Technical Editor at Netcracker, you will have opportunities to develop your existing skills as well as learning new ones. This position is right for you if you’re comfortable wearing many hats and juggling multiple projects to deliver customer-facing content of the highest quality.

  • Collaborate with technical writers, trainers, and instructional designers to edit customer documentation, training materials, and eLearning courses for grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, clarity, consistency, and completeness.
  • Schedule and prioritize editing requests, and keep all stakeholders informed to ensure timely delivery.
  • Proofread finalized deliverables for glaring errors.
  • Make suggestions and revisions based on established guidelines.
  • Provide tailored, constructive feedback to writers, trainers, and other contributors.
  • Mentor team members to teach best practices in technical writing.
  • Estimate editing effort based on the condition of materials and the level of edit required.
  • Follow the established documentation workflow.
  • Act as a user advocate and validate deliverables for readability and usability.
  • Export and publish documentation.
  • Interpret and maintain style guidelines, apply them to deliverables, and coach writers and other content creators to improve consistency across the Customer Training and Documentation practice.
  • Create and maintain internal documentation related to writing and editing standards and processes.
  • Participate in and/or lead additional leadership initiatives as required.

What skills and experience will you need for this role?

  • 2-5 years of experience in a technical editing role.
  • Experience editing both documentation and technical training materials preferred.
  • Comfortable working on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and directly.
  • Strong command of the English language, including rules and usage.
  • Experience working with industry-standard style guides, for example, Microsoft Manual of Style.
  • Ability to clarify and simplify complex technical and business concepts for multiple audiences.
  • An eye for detail and attention to technical accuracy.
  • Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • General familiarity with document layout and basic graphic design principles.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically, resolve complex issues, and improve current processes or solutions.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proactive attitude and focus on resolving problems and delivering results.
  • Experience with documentation tools and content management systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word.
  • Experience in telecom or IT preferred.
