Rockstar is on the lookout for talented Technical Artist who possess a passion for development support. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our game development teams and help drive our production technology forward to support the development of various Rockstar Games projects.

This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar’s unique game development studio in Oakville, ON. 

WHAT WE DO

  • Help architect, build, and optimize data pipelines for production to track progress throughout our projects. 
  • Collaborate and communicate with various departments, working closely with the global Technical Art team. 
  • Build applications to support dedicated views of data in Shotgrid. 
  • Tackle day to day requests for improvements and bug fixes. 
  • Maintain automated systems used across multiple projects and platforms. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide quick support for high priority requests in Shotgrid and applications related to Shotgrid data as well as general maintenance support. 
  • Review and provide feedback for submitted code. 
  • Design, build, improve or optimize pipelines used by internal Rockstar teams to streamline and support production. 
  • Properly document new additions, changes, and modifications to processes for both developers and users. 
  • Effectively communicate and perform updates to software to support teams across multiple time zones. 
  • Assist with the testing, release and follow up phase of new application and feature deployments. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Python knowledge is a prerequisite for the role. 
  • Experience developing with Python backend frameworks such as Flask, Django or FastAPI. 
  • Web Development with Vue/React.  
  • 2+ years of applicable professional experience as a Technical Artist/TD/Tools Programmer in the videogames or film/VFX industry. 
  • 2+ years of experience with writing tools for Shotgrid. 
  • Experience with debugging, troubleshooting, and quickly fixing issues that arise from production. 
  • Experience working with pre-existing proprietary or 3rd party automation systems/processes. 

SKILLS

  • Experience with setting up CI/CD systems on Github or Gitlab platforms. 
  • Experience using Mongo/SQL or other non-relational/relational databases. 
  • Experience with Docker/Containers and orchestration (preferably Kubernetes). 
  • Strong communication, self-management, and organizational skills. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work within a schedule and deliver to deadlines effectively. 
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in managing shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.  
  • Strong writing skills with an ability to produce clear, concise, user-friendly documentation.  

PLUSES

  • Relevant video games development experience, preferably on an AAA game. 
  • Experience writing APIs. 
  • Knowledge of ELK stack. 
  • Experience with Agile Scrum method. 
  • Experience using Motionbuilder and/or Maya as a technical artist/TD. 
  • Experience with working with AWS & S3. 
  • Experience with writing technical documentation for developers and users. 
  • Knowledge of C# & Rust.
